Any issues travelling with Extension letter?

Hello VJ,

 

I would like some personal feedback from those who have traveled with their Extension Letter please. We filed for removal of condition in September of last year, with the backlogged, not expecting an answer until June. However, my husband and I want to visit his family in Italy in July and my extension expires in September, I know its say I can work and travel but what are your personal experience if you have traveled on the extension letter?

 

FYI, last time I traveled was with my Employment Authorization Card, upon returning to the US, I was held in the immigration room for hours just to be processed to gain entry back in the US. I am concerned with the travel ban even thou it should not affect permanent residence if anyone had a smooth reentry back in the US with the Extension Letter?

I traveled from Canada with the extension letter in Dec 2016.  Crossed the border at the Detroit tunnel.  I was on a shuttle bus to the Detroit airport.  Standard procedure with the shuttle bus is that everyone has to go in to secondary.  They didn't have any issue with the letter, but they did take a thorough look through my suitcase.  We were the only ones there at the time, so the office wasn't busy.

I traveled pretty extensively through Europe with the extension letter, never a problem boarding flights. A couple of long looks at the letter, one supervisor called, nothing too bad.

I'm going to travel with the extention soon so a little worry as well how is it going now on POE

My wife came back at the end of March with the extension letter from Russia via China.  She had no issues either checking into flights, or re-entering the US (POE Detroit Metro Airport).  She wasn't able to use the electronic kiosk, and her bag was scanned (not physically searched), but no secondary visit.
