Hirsi Ali: Islamic Terrorists 'Don't Go to Liberals and Say Thank You' for Being PC

Ayaan Hirsi Ali criticized what she considered the "apologetic attitude" some liberals around the world have toward identifying the religious component to Islamic terrorism.

Ali, a women rights activist who was raised Muslim in Somalia but later became an apostate, called such a mindset "masochistic and stupid."

She said on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that radical Islamic terrorists "don't go to liberals and say thank you so much, we'll stop terrorizing you" because of some on the left refuse to identify terrorism's religious component.

The obvious however, is that you can call them Islamic Terrorists all day long, and that won't make them go "Oh! We've been caught. We need to stop terrorizing people, because they now know who we are".

 

It is true however, that not all terrorists are Muslims - as is the case of the Jewish terrorist - and not all Muslims are terrorists.

 

Perhaps the big point she is missing is that nothing good, positive or productive is accomplished by putting all Muslims in the same category as all terrorists.

 

Religion is not the reason Islamic terrorists exist, nor is Islam their source of inspiration. Ignorance is the only hurdle you need to overcome to perceive that.

You don't even need an analogy. What benefit do you get from calling a terrorist by a religion? You can call a terrorist islamic, jewish, British, American, or whatever you want, but it doesn't change the fact that terrorism doesn't need a modifier.  To Hirsi's point, calling them by a religion just fuels their claim that the US is at war with an entire culture or religion. It works for the so-called president because it resonates with his base. It appeals to their xenophobia and ignorance, but for the rest of us, it does nothing, other than makes us sigh in the face of such demagoguery.

 

Look at the attack in London, yesterday. You can call the guy a British terrorist, a Islamic terrorist, or a radical islamic British terrorist. Favoring a specific dimension doesn't help resolve the problem.

You have to acknowledge the issue before you can deal with the issue.
