When I check the processing timelines they were working on October 15th for the California Service Center (CSC)

I read there was a 45 day lag on the reporting though so maybe they are very close.

Based on VJ timeline, CSC is working on december cases. Not to cause any further stress, but doesn't your nationality have anything do to with it? since Iran is among the banned countries. Maybe you should contact a local office regarding that.

Not really for the I-129F. The I-129F is mostly about the petitioner, not the beneficiary. I've seen no discernible difference in processing times in the data.

Also, the ban (v1 and v2) is not in enforcement.

They just sent their petition at the right time. March 2016 filers had about 3 months to NOA2.  Ours, filed in June was 57 days. Ben&Zian filed in July and it was 48 days. I think in September, the processing times started getting longer.

There was a huge number of I-129Fs filed in late October, and then more right after the election, and then again before the fees went up in December. There were also several weeks of not many cases being touched due to holidays and such. Early Nov. filers had around 40-60 day waiting periods and some have their visa already. Others are still waiting.

There is no secret to the process...you file and wait for them to look at it. Having a full and complete packet is the fastest way to go through the process since it avoids RFEs. I had one myself, and it only added 2 weeks from notice to approval.
