Notarization

Hi all,

I have a quick question, do we have to notarise the letter that shows intent to return / re-establish domicile in the US prior to submitting it to the NVC or not?

My husband is a USC and he has been living with me in Egypt on a temporary basis. He kept his US bank accounts, US-registered company and everything operating as normal back home. What should we do to prove / demonstrate domicile. Our attorney says we should notarise the letter of intent but I did not see anyone else doing so. Please advise. Thank you.

It is always best to notarize a letter such as this.  Play it safe and notarize the letter, versus receiving a checklist for a notarized letter.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

No, you do not have to notarize such a letter and contrary to what the prior poster said, not having it notarized will not result in a checklist being issued.  Furthermore, all notarization is that the person who signed the letter was in fact that person through an ID check.  It does not add any weight to the contents of the letter itself.
