Hi all,

I had to make a new user name because it's been years since I've been on this site, I remember it being an amazingly helpful place. I've been in the US now almost 13 years, i can't believe it! Ha. (Long story short, my marriage didn't work out and we sadly divorced after 5 years. I met and married a wonderful man and have since changed my name on my Green Card, in doing so they added another 10 years to the expiration date so it doesn't expire until Sept 2022. Anyway, I'm finally going to a class to become a (dual) citizen. The teacher has asked us to find someone who has gone through the process to answer a few questions about their experience, unfortunately I don't know anyone that has gone through it so I thought I'd come here and see if you guys could help.

Find someone who has become a U.S. citizen. If you don't know anyone who has, ask friends and family if they do. Ask the person these questions. And write down their answers.

Name of the person you talked to:
Date :

1. When did you become a US citizen?

2. Why did you want to be a US citizen?

3. Where did you live before coming to the United States?

4. Where did you go to get finger printed?

5. How did you prepare for your citizenship interview?

6. What was your USICS interview like? What was the most difficult part?

7. Who went with you to your USICS interview?

8. How has your like changed after becoming a US citizen?

I'd greatly appreciate your help and can't wait to hear your experiences.

Regards

4.  The USCIS Application Support Center, about 6 miles from our home (we were lucky!)

6.  Easy.  Studying for it.  Husband says to see thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/382775-mrs-t-b-the-citizenship-test/

I was happy in Ecuador.  When all you know is a Motel 6, it's fine.  But when you're exposed to a Hilton, you see the difference between it and a Motel 6.  That's the difference between living in Ecuador and of the U.S.

Customs & Border agents did no harass me on my last air flights

I can renew my driver license on what my husband says is a regular schedule

I can vote for all the political candidates who irritate my husband

2. #1 US was my home for a long while.  #2 visa-free travel with US passport #3 last but not least not having to deal with USCIS anymore

3. Turkey

4. Boston ASC

5. Didn't study a lot. When you live here a long time, most of the civics questions are a piece of cake.

6. Shared my experience here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/587671-n-400-march-2016-filers/?page=58#comment-8198762

7. My wife but she was not allowed to join the interview.

8. Not much has changed. I voted for the first time ever in the past elections. I had two international trips. One was to EU. I was great not dealing with the Schengen visa; all the paperwork, $$, consulate visits, etc. I must say I like my new shiny passport (though Europe is now debating to introduce visas to US passport holders, I may go back to square one, let's see).
