Thank you. interview went well and I have been recommended for approval. Now,am waiting for the oath date.

Another conversation with an L2 officer, another story! So apparently the 5/6 in-line date was made up and he can't see it anywhere in his system. Somehow his colleague could, who knows if these guys can even read. Anyway, at this point I guess I'll just wait and once I really had enough I'll go to a lawyer and see if we can sort it out that way.

So nobody said anything definitive what is the situation with your case right now? Whether it is waiting for background checks to be cleared or pending an interview date assignment; already sitting in the field office or still in the NBC?

 

I think no lawyer would advise any legal action unless there is hard evidence that your application is late. It means that we have to wait at least 6 months from the filing date.

This last officer I spoke to said that the case is still with the NBC and it's "ready to be sent to the field office"; whatever the heck that means. A week ago I was told I was in line as of 5/6 but the website was not updated because "it's full of glitches". Totally frustrating and also kind of disrespectful toward the applicants.

It's finally over! I'm now a citizen of the great experiment that is the United States of America! I'm honored to have the opportunity to help make her a more perfect union.

 

The ceremony was wonderful, and for me a bit emotional and surreal! The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 12pm, so I arrived at 11:30am and they sent the citizens to the front of the room while family members sat in the seats behind (much like a graduation). We had to fill out our N-455 form before we arrived (it's literally 6 boxes to check NO on all the questions and sign). We were called row by row to check in (they collect the forms and green cards). This took about 45 minutes for the 202 citizenship applicants. We then waited another half an hour for the judge to arrive. It began around 1:30pm. It was a lovely ceremony with short speeches, national anthem singing by a state trooper and so forth. We all stood and gave the oath of allegiance as well as pledging allegiance to the flag. And then it was over.

 

The judge left and we the family members were told to leave and row by row we were called up to receive our naturalization certificates.

 

I know everyone is waiting, but it will be so worth the wait when you get to the oath ceremony and realize your actually an American. The part that made me a bit emotional was reading my naturalization certificate where it said 'country of former nationality'. That's when I said.... damn, I'm an American now.

 

Good luck to everyone! It's sooo worth the wait.

Which ceremony were you at Gary, the 1pm or 2:30pm?  We were at the 1pm one.

I don't recall seeing you, of course I was just excited to get this over with.

I wish I would have messaged you before the ceremony, I just assumed they only did one ceremony a day, (until the security guard asked which ceremony we were there for).

I was the 6'4" guy with the screaming 2 year old son, lol.  Luckily I brought my teenage daughter, she took him out to the waiting area so he wouldn't make the ceremony to uncomfortable for everyone else.

The ceremony was wonderful, and for me a bit emotional and surreal! The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 12pm, so I arrived at 11:30am and they sent the citizens to the front of the room while family members sat in the seats behind (much like a graduation). We had to fill out our N-455 form before we arrived (it's literally 6 boxes to check NO on all the questions and sign). We were called row by row to check in (they collect the forms and green cards). This took about 45 minutes for the 202 citizenship applicants. We then waited another half an hour for the judge to arrive. It began around 1:30pm. It was a lovely ceremony with short speeches, national anthem singing by a state trooper and so forth. We all stood and gave the oath of allegiance as well as pledging allegiance to the flag. And then it was over.

 

The judge left and we the family members were told to leave and row by row we were called up to receive our naturalization certificates.

 

I know everyone is waiting, but it will be so worth the wait when you get to the oath ceremony and realize your actually an American. The part that made me a bit emotional was reading my naturalization certificate where it said 'country of former nationality'. That's when I said.... damn, I'm an American now.

 

Good luck to everyone! It's sooo worth the wait.
