How long it usually takes for schedule the interview after CC? :)

I think it depends on the embassy. For the one in Rio (which I believe it's your case as well), they scheduled the interview approximately one month after my case was completed.

Email processing is so much faster than we thought.

On May 15, we sent out AOS and IV package via email and immediately got an automatic reply saying it's been received.

On May 17, we got assigned a new case number (from GUZ to GZO) for successful opt in for EP.

And yesterday, May 24, we got CC with checklist! (wohoo! Just a week's time!)

Looking forward to the schedule of the interview! Good luck everyone. ;)

How did you know they're completed?

Well, in the email they say they will schedule the interview.

And checking my visa application status, it's been changed from "submit requested documents"(even after we've done that) to "at NVC", which means the case is ready to be sent to the consulate.

Thanks for the info.

No worries. I received the CC confirmation email just now. Usually you'll receive it after 5-7 days after CC, according to VJers' information.

Hello all! Oh my goodness I was so happy to find that this thread was recent!

My case was approved the 24th of May. Sent to NVC the 1st of June and called today and they confirmed they received yesterday the 7th...

I know I am still in the early stages of NVC but I'm so nervous that my lawyer won't do the email processing for me. I spoke to her today and asked her if we were going to be able to do EP since my embassy is GTM Guatemala.. She acted like she had no idea what I was talking about and got all annoyed and told me that she has been doing this for 20 years and you send it via mail and to let her do her job and I told her no I want to do email processing since I have been blessed with the opportunity to do so and she told me to make the payments first and we will talk about it afterwards when it comes down to that... I am considering doing it myself if they refuse but I am also nervous..

Any advice out there?

Definitely DO NOT send the documents in through mail. You will be waiting for months at NVC when you don't have to. EP can be done in 2 weeks or less, mail takes 3 months or more. Even the assurance that a lawyer is filing properly is not worth waiting months extra.

Serious red flag on your lawyer for not knowing about EP. While the process is relatively new, they really should be up to speed on NVC.

My suggestion is that you educate your lawyer on EP by showing them the website at the following link:

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

See if they would be willing to file through EP. You are paying them after all, so you might as well have them do it. The only difference is the format, really, and it would be less work for them. If not, walk away and file by yourself.

Follow the submission guidelines on that website I linked you to. You can also find the guidelines in this thread. Even if you make a mistake and get a checklist, NVC will generally respond in a couple weeks after emailing the documents telling you exactly what needs to be corrected. Then a few days after receiving your correction, they complete your case. So that lets you rest easy about wasted time if you mess up without the lawyer; you'll still save a ton of time.

Thank you so much for your advice you've definitely put me at ease! I have a feeling I might have to go it alone afterwards doing EP which is fine because there is so much helpful advice here and so much support that I'm not afraid. And if I do make a slight mistake they will let me know and after they get what they need case complete! So thanks so much I defintely feel better now!

No problem! Like you said, this site is an excellent resource. There are people on here who really know their stuff that you can reach out to who have been through the process before. Also check with people doing EP right now in this thread:

We have all been there before. I would feel terrible seeing someone have to suffer and wait through the process any longer than they need to when there is a much faster route to take.
