I am in the process of removing the conditions on my 2 year green card. They sent me the letter telling me that I could travel and work for a year but the letter expired too and I am still waiting for the 10 year green card. I went to get the i 551 stamp. I want to know if is it saved that I travel with that stamp? Im really worried. Please Help!!!! I want to know if anybody has traveled recently like that expired green card + expired letter of extension + i 551 stamp?

To obtain an I-551 you usually have to surrender the expired green card.

Once you have a stamp you don't need anything else; the stamp is good all by itself.

I didnt have to surrender my expired card. They gave it back to me. But I just want to be sure. Some people say that I might have problems boarding the plane when its my time to come back here.

So both your Green Card AND your ROC extension letter are expired? The ROC is taking that long for you?

I'm not sure but would seem to be a high risk to travel until some other document is had.

I was in the same boat..well...plane to be exact ;). I travelled to Mexico with my extension stamp, expired GC and expired letter and it was problem free upon returning. I think you will be just fine to travel with the extension stamp. You may get pulled into secondary (I did) but this should not take very long assuming there are no issues with your case.

Filed: Other Timeline

My letter is expiring in April and my roc is still pending without rfe or anything. If I get my passport stamped next month, would I be able to travel in June and stay abroad for a few months? It will be for medical reason. I mean I'm not dying, but can't afford to see a doctor over here. I'll also be eligible to file N400 in Feb. Should I do that instead? Would it take too long to process both Roc and N400?

My flight is on Thursday going to my country. I have my expired GC, expired extension letter and I-551 stamp. Yet, I am so worried and scared that I might not enter the US again or have some issues returning back. I am so anxious right now. 🤧🤧🤧

I’ll be gone for two weeks only, still undecided. Please help me! Is there anyone here who travelled abroad with I-551 stamp? What is your experienced? I am Dec 2016 filer for I-751 still waiting for my actual 10 years Green Card. ☝🏻🙏🏻

Well as others mentioned in another thread here, you're overthinking this.  Thousands have traveled with the stamp.

You need nothing other than your passport if you have an I-551 stamp inside it. It carries the same legal weight as a green card.
