AOS March 2016 filers/Part 2

I told her that is weird because i have filed my case in March 2016. She said they are conducting background security check or something in that matter. This information was kind of confusing and different from what I heard when i called Tier 2 officer through the USCIS customer service phone number. they told me that my case is waiting on security clearance since April. Also i spoke with the congressman office This morning and they also told me that the case is waiting for security clearance at the NBC. in fact they forward me the email that they got from the NBC that states my case is under security clearance. 

 

I don't know what to do with this delay. How long will i be waiting after the NBC. Another 6 month maybe ? a year .. forever ....

The 90 day thing can't be right because a ton of us had our cases sit there for much, much longer. I got the 90 day letter once after an inquiry.....in September 2016. All we can do is wait it out. I've heard a lot of times that a renewal of the EAD will 'wake up' the AOS case its connected to and it will be finished up and given an interview notice soon after that. I'm looking forward to see if that is true.

 

This is like when those who file cr1/ir1, and sometimes some folks get stuck in administrative processing. We have to eat up something like the in country version of that with security checks, sadly.

Since i entered the us a year ago i gained about 20 pounds... talking about abs huh... on a diet atm lol

 

And if i read it correct I think it might be 90 days after background checks are completed. I mean I can be completely wrong but maybe they mean that the background checks have been completd at jan 3rd, and they "received the case back" at NBC for further processing which can take up to 90 days. 

 

If anything I hope for you that this is what it means n youre out of the background check

 

My positive toughts are with you all, and those abs will appear once you guys are out of the stress-mess

How's things going?  I think you're right, 90 days after the background check is the time frame they have to get the case back to the NBC and transferred to a local office. 

 

There must be something special about our foods here lol. My husband has gained about 15-20lb as well lol.

Thanks for your ongoing support, SanneW! It's nice of you to stay connected with those of us still waiting....it gives us hope that this madness will eventually come to an end.

That sounds reasonable to me, too. Question is if USCIS actually adheres to that...I guess that is where our congresspeople come in.

I interpreted it as 120 full days, I mean who has time to count out all the weekends, national and public holidays etc?

 

I am about to leave for my impromptu Infopass appointment. I checked at 10, appointment at 1, be there half hour early due to safety protocols, takes an hour to get there and I don't know how to drive in downtown LA, total panic scramble to get all my papers together and print out additional things, walk the dog, make myself look like a human (unsuccessful after all this stress and worry), and now I'm just waiting for the ride I managed to wrangle. It's Friday the 13th. Wish me some gosh darn luck.

ps. I also had hoped for abs at this point, and running a 5K. Silly me!

How did your infopass appointment go, Ninahi? Did you find out anything useful?

I just counted. 120 days prior to our EAD expiration was 12/26/2016!

 

Is it bad if we haven't resubmitted yet? Ahhhh!

No but you should submit before 90 for sure, so ASAP, and when you get the NOA1, call and go for expedite based on financial loss (I think that is what other VJers said the term was) basically you're working now and if you don't get it, you would be fired/on leave/whatever. I'll make my congressman help us expedite if we hit 75-80 with no sign and a phone expedite doesn't work.

 

Also heard that you can work for 90 days AFTER submitting, even with an expired card, if you show proof of renewal. I have that link on VJ favorited because I'm a paranoid freak about the renewal not coming in tme, the person who got the info posted direct from the i9 employer's handbook down to the page # and paragraph. If you guys want the link, let me know, I'll dig it up.

Our 120-day date was 12/29/2016, but we were in Taiwan at that time so submitted the first week of January after we returned. I don't think (hope) it will make a HUGE difference in the grand scheme of things, but I agree with Sparkles that you should submit ASAP. 

 

God only knows what's going to happen after January 20.

How long does it normally take to get the text message notification if you submitted the form G-1145 with the EAD renewal documents? We sent off the package last week and it arrived at the PO box in Chicago on Thursday (confirmed via registered mail), but we haven't received any notification that it's been accepted yet. Maybe they don't check the PO box every day??

I never got any damn text notification the first go around....despite indicating I wanted them, smh. It took like 10 days to get the paper NOA

That's what i figured because it seemed like 90 days is nothing for cases like those. But i really got frustrated and curios when the officer told me that the NBC requested my file on Jan 3rd, like why so late ?? and why the inquiry says awaiting interview and the local office and the congressman office said that it is waiting background check ? these are like unanswered questions. 

Anyways. i wanted to ask a question. Since i filed my papers through the jewish family services and i don't have a lawyer, how can i renew my work permit ? it is expiring in may and i think i  need to renew it. 

Also, can i still apply for an I-131 ?

Things are going well I guess. Homesick a lot and very much out of shape... 

 

Tbh still waiting just like all of you, tho different reasons haha. My life is pretty much still on hold. Maybe februari but at least in may ill be going finally!

 

And I dont know if its the food, or maybe the sudden insane change of life... and the stress of the greencard process helps a lot in gaining weight!

Remind me, i131 is advance parole for travel right? If so then yes you can get the EAD combo card yes. You can either use Jewish family services again, or walk yourself thru renewal either by paper or online. You just send a copy of your AOS receipt with it and two passport photos. Ours expires in mid May and we will send it off end of the month so you should renew sometime this month too

Do you know if there is a tutorial about the renwal ? because appointments at the jewish family takes long time and i don't think it is that hard to apply for renwal right ?.
