Thank you Pink_niru, Vakson and May.

my personal preference is also to let it move with my mother’s petition. However, the only concern is her health and age.

Pink_niru raised an excellent point that dont let the other petition die and keep it alive, just in case. I think we’ll go with that.

just wondering, how does it affect the petition and visa if we go with both petitions?  (fee is paid twice, thats ok). My question is, does it affect negatively on the visa issuance.

It does not effect at all... again u dont need to even pay for your father's petition( i would suggestnot to pay as that maybraise questionthat why you would pay two times for same person)...if you send atlest one communication related to your file in a year they wont kill your petition. As it has same dates , proceed fast as much as u can on your mother's petition. Just submit your COA for father's petition and don't do anything further , they can not close your that petition till a year. And as soon as they land in USA , call /email NVC n tell them to close father's petition.  Find section " one year contact req" section

Visa case became documentarily qualified today.

and

NVC emailed us that "The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate General overseas. NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable)."

Does anyone has any idea how much time they are gonna take to schedule us a appointment?

I am in the same position and my case was 'Document completed' on 11th June and still waiting to hear for the interview date. I also heard that the interview slots are released to NVC by each embassy at the end of the month.

So it depends on how much workload is on the embassy thats dealing with your case. Mine is London and i think its pretty busy :(

Anyone else got any experience with London embassy?

I found this info about Substitute Sponsor from USCIS website, so I think it maybe useful for anyone needed.

https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/affidavit-support

If the petitioner died, USCIS will make a decision and let the petition continue. However, this process is not quick and easy, at least we know that this is possible.

Quote

Substitute Sponsor

If the visa petitioner has died after approval of the visa petition but U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) decides to let the petition continue, a substitute sponsor must file a Form I-864 in place of the deceased visa petitioner. In order to be a “substitute sponsor,” you must be related to the intending immigrant in one of the following ways:

  • Spouse
  • Parent
  • Mother-in-law
  • Father-in-law
  • Sibling
  • Child (if at least 18 years of age)
  • Son
  • Daughter
  • Son-in-law
  • Daughter-in-law
  • Sister-in-law
  • Brother-in-law
  • Grandparent
  • Grandchild
  • Legal guardian of the beneficiary

You must also:

  • Be U.S. citizen or national or a permanent resident
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be domiciled (live) in the United States
  • Meet all of the financial requirements of a sponsor pursuant to INA 213A

The substitute sponsor assumes all of the obligations of an I-864 sponsor.
