NOA1 on October 18, 2016 - K1 visa

I got my NOA1 for my K1 visa on October 18th, 2016. According to the processing times I should have gotten the NOA2 by now but I still have heard nothing. California service center. Is this normal? Is anyone else in the same boat?

You are well within the period. It can take up to 3-5 months before you get the approval, which is the time frame for K1 visa. Just be patient and calm, it will definitely come.

I keep seeing discrepancies in the processing times listed here on VJ K-1 stats page vs what I'm actually seeing. According to the trends and statistics page today on 11/15/16, the CSC should be processing applications with an NOA-1 date of November 4, 2016. But nothing is completely linear. When you go to Igor's Statistics Page (http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?cfl=0), it lists the VJ website members with the 15 most recently approved NOA-2s. Other than 3 applications listed with an NOA-1 date of November 1, 2016, most of the applications I see listed there have NOA-1 dates anywhere from Sept. 1, 2016 to Oct. 28, 2016.

I do not understand the inner workings of the USCIS system, but based on information that I have seen on this website from former folks working in the USCIS service centers processing these applications, it seems that these buildings are giant mazes of cubicles with many people working on many different applications. Everyone has a different caseload they are trying to get through as quickly and as thoroughly as possible, and for whatever reason, some take longer than others even if there isn't an RFE issued, and the applications aren't systematically gone through in a strictly chronological order. My NOA-1 date is Nov. 16, 2016 and so I'm of course hoping mine is on the shorter side, but now seeing yours is October 18, 2016 - a full month before mine - and seeing the stats on Igor's stats page, I'm starting to readjust my expectations!

I've seen others with a NOA1 data later than mine and then got their NOA2 in November. I saw another person on here with a NOA1 date a week or so before mine and already have a date set for the interview. I fear with Christmas and new years coming up that USCIS people are already on vacation and I won't hear anything until mid January or later ;(

If I am getting an RFE I wish they'd let me know ASAP.

Right. Different cases move at slightly different pace. You have done what you can.

I filed only a few days after you. Was shocked to receive NOA2 on 12-29-16. Like you I figured with the holidays it would be the end of January at least before it was approved.
