Comments : Our AOS interview went well.  We arrived at Seattle office 30 minutes early. After a short wait we were called.

Our interview officer was a lady officer. She was professional and asked us many more questions than what we thought.

For my wife:

They asked us many questions. From 485 form - all questions from last 2 pages...have you ever ______ questions.
Have you been to US before?
Have you traveled outside? Did you go to Greece...you applied for Travel authorization?
Who attended engagement?
When did you get married? Where was wedding? How many people attended? Where was Wedding?
Who does household work?

For husband/petitioner:

How we met. Which online site?
They they asked about when we met.
Why I choose Vietnam? How did I propose?
Do you still have same job?

For both:

Where do you live?  How long did it take to get there this morning?
Who does housework?
How are things going?  Any problems being that we are from different cultures?

She said that our documents looked complete and she did not need anything else. But we can provide any additional documentation. We gave a few more documents. She said we can provide few photos. We gave her many documents and photos.

Then she told us that they will decide in the next 2 weeks. If they need any additional info they will send a letter request. Otherwise we should get notification.

We answered each question.  We had brought every document that could have been asked. We also had supporting documents to show our married lives.
Overall the interview was fair and bit longer than anticipated.

Thanks to VJ for support and information.

We received green card in mail after 8 days. We are both happy with the long journey and process. Now we can live our married lives.

Consulate Review: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 11, 2017
Embassy Review : Our K1 Visa interview at Ho Chi Minh city consulate.

Interview: Jan 6, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam

We were anxious. Prepared well and practiced for interview. We had every document that could be needed with us. I traveled for interview.

We arrived at Embassy ad there were large lines. When they called the number for document check, we both walked up. I was asked if I was the petitioner and I said yes. He told me to go sit down.

While waiting we noticed and overheard some of the other people's interview questions. A few k1 applicants that were there by themselves were asked challenging and probing questions and seemed that CO may have some doubt about thier case. We were anxious.

When our number was called, we went to window together. We were both asked to raise our hands and say that we will tell the truth. CO then proceeded to ask us both questions. I was surprised that they allowed me to stay for interview. The questions were relatively easy.

Questions for Her:
Can you show me your photos?
How many trips has your fiance made to Vietnam?
Do you have any relatives in US?
How did the 2 of you meet?
When did you meet in person - the first time?
Were either of you married before? Did you know that fiance was still married when you first met?
When was fiance's divorce started and finalized?
Do either of you have any children?
What does your fiance do in US?

Questions for Me:
Can I see your passport?
Please show me the previous 2 Vietnam visa's and airport stamps?

CO then said, you need to bring the Medical exam test results and then you will get visa. He said all your paper work is in order. After interview, CEAC status changed to Administrative processing.

My fiance's medical exam had found something on lung x-ray. She was asked to do Sputum test, which she started. Sputum test takes 2 months to compete. We wen ahead and did the interview before the final Sputum test results are available.

Think that me being there at Embassy fro interview helped. All our paperwork was very detailed and we had submitted a very complete set of documents. I thought that CO and interview questions were fair.

We received conditional approval. Condition and required document is Sputum Test Results are needed to be completed.

After 10 weeks, medical exam sputum exam results came back. She received medical exam report. Took the medical exam and vaccination report to consulate.

She finally received visa after a long wait. We are happy and have now began our life together in US.

Thanks for all help from VJ and members.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
