Hello Guys, Petition approved Dec. 1, 2016. How I will know if the NVC received our case? By email or in my USCIS status?

When I will call the NVC for the case number?

Thank you all. God bless?

Congrats on your approval!

I'm guessing K-1's and IR-1/CR-I's are both received/assigned a case number the same way at NVC- from what I know in the K-1 forum, cases are taking around 30 days on average after NOA 2 to be received, but it can really take anywhere from 2 weeks to over a month. I also think with the holiday coming up, things are much slower! -_-

You can either call NVC to see if the case has been received (the most popular way), or can inquire online. You can start calling them anytime once you receive your NOA 2 hardcopy, but due to lengthier wait times now I'd wait a few weeks after NOA 2 to avoid calling everyday  Totally up to you though :) I also think NVC is supposed to send a hardcopy in the mail with the case #, but you can get all those details over the phone ^_^

Hope that helps, this is what I've learned from the forums I've been following  Good luck!!

We received our NOA2 hardcopy over a week ago, which said "We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center", however on the USCIS website it still shows "Approved" not "Sent to Department of State".

Do all NOA2s have this statement, or does this mean they've already sent our petition and it's time to start calling the NVC? :)

Hmm...usually the NOA2 is just for approval, but maybe you've gotten lucky. There's no extreme rush to start calling the NVC center, since it does take almost 2 weeks to assign the case number. I guess it's a question of how long you'd like to wait on hold.

Unfortunately all NOA2s have this statement and your case probably hasn't been sent yet. Usually the USCIS website updates with "case sent to department of state" but not always. The only way to know for certain is to call NVC and listen to that awful music until someone answers.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Thanks for the confirmation! I'll hope that I see the status change this week, since it's been 2 weeks since approval already.

Hello there, I called the NVC yesterday, the operator said, they didn't receive my case yet, I didn't receive the approval letter by mail because It will take long us to received because me and my husband are lived overseas now. Hopefully we will receive our case number before holidays.

Sorry to hear that. Wishing us luck to receive our case numbers before the holidays as processing will really take slow. It's really sickening to wait especially my son is growing up fast without a father by his side. We wanted to be reunited soon.. But still patience is a virtue! ?? best of luck Phillygirl
