Hi everyone,

I'm a bit confused about how to check the status of our case.

My husband and I filed our our i-485 back in December 2016. We received our NOA on December 29, 2016. He received his EAD and AP in April.

Since then, we've heard nothing. If we check the case status online, it just says "fingerprints have been received." The only office address we have is the USCIS National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, MO.

My big question is--I'm confused about where the case is being processed. I can't find any processing time information about Lee's Summit, MO. Do they process the i-485 there?

Did you receive notice that your case had been forwarded to a local service center?

Thank you for any help or clarification!

Hello everyone, I would like to share with you that we just received the text message from USCIS confirming that my mother's interview is schedule for Sept. 8th. That's 259 days after we filed.

We are excited but do have a couple of questions - maybe some of you can help us with:

1) I filed my parents's GCs applications together, but only my mother is being scheduled for interview. Any idea what's happening with my father's GC possibly? Prior to this, they've been on the same schedule for the previous steps.

2) My parents don't speak English, can I as a sponsor also be the interview translator? Or, do I need to bring someone else to translate at the interview? Would bringing my dad's friend to the interview as a translator work?

Thank you all!!!

1) This is not unusual, (A november filer) @aayitrun 's parents didn't have interview, but they had their cases approved two months apart. Meaning your other parent may even have interview waived.

2) Yes, you can be your parents' interpreter, You will be sworn in as well.. interview is mostly confirming info on I-485. So it should be pretty straight forward

Depending on how backlogged your local office is.. Your case is still probably at NBC. Yes, You cant find processing times as they will eventually be moved to local office if you are a non K-1 AOSer.

However, USCIS CSO on the 800 phone # did say you can do service request post 6 months for I-30 & I-485 earlier in the year, hopefully they did not move the goal post on that too.

You could call and put in one, not sure it would move a needle but perhaps it may lead to new info on your case.

Case forwarding notification are not common these days, unless "Ready to be schedule.." counts as such which is just a way of saying all is clear from our(NBC) end, waiting on your local office for your interview date.

Thanks for the information!

One follow-up question-- we are adjusting K1 to AOS, Above, you specified the case will be moved if I am a "non K-1 AOSer." Is there a different process for those that started out with K1?

Thanks again!

All Non-K-1 AOS for spouse will be interviewed., as well some K-1 AOSers

However,,  as a K-1 AOSer, you may potentially get an interview waiver meaning the next notification you get on I-485 will be ''card production.."  and that will be  the beginning of the end of your AOS journey

You are in the wrong forum, this thread is in the forum for those who adjust from student/tourist/work visas. You need to check the forum for those who adjust from a family based visa, I'll add the link to the December filers thread.

Thank you all!!!

in the case of parents since there is no bonafide-ness to be proven, it is ok for you to be the interpreter as the sponsor. that being said, take a look at https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume7-PartA-Chapter5.html

they could disqualify you from being an interpreter based on your bias at getting your parents case approved. if you wanted to be super safe, take someone else. that being said, even your fathers friend wants to get his gc approved so im not sure how they enforce that bar. i think you should be fine by yourself if the case is straightforward. maybe someone with experience in the matter will comment.

It should be there before this week ends.. if not, it might take until early next week. My card was mailed to me right before it online status changed lol. Some went to have the online status changed to approved before mailed. Mine jumped from production to mailed. It differs in many many cases.

But the good news is that you were approved and you will receive it real soon.. Congratulations! See you at RoC.. :)
