Help with old movie

Ok, a friend is trying to find out the name of this movie he saw when he was like, 10 years old. He doesn't remember much except that he liked it a lot back then. All he could tell about the movie is that it was about some guy running away in a sports car (possibly a ferrari or a lamborghini) that has a van covering it, and when he needs to get away fast he pushes a button and the van-like cover pops out and the can run really fast in this sports car.

Anyone remember such a movie?

EDIT: I tried googling something but I couldn't find anything.

Oh, and supposedly he saw the movie on TV some 15 years ago.

He thinks the guy is a bad guy running from the police.

All he knows for sure is that the guy pushes a button in the car panel and this carcass of a van or something springs out of the car and the car underneath is a sports car.

Vanborghini was great!

Wasn't Viper that old series? I'm pretty sure he said it was a movie, and I don't remember Viper being disguised as a van or anything like it.

P.S. No, not a Bond movie.

That's all the information I have, sorry.

The car was REALLY fast.

It was maybe a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.

The guy was a probably a thief and used the car to escape the police.

The car had some sort of carcass to disguise it.

The carcass resembled a van.

When he needed to get away he pressed a button and the carcass would exit and he would speed off in the car.

my hubby owned a dvd store in holland before he moved here... it doesnt ring a bell with him... he tried to find it with google as well, but had no luck... but he says if you register with www.imdb.com and ask about it in the section "i need to know", you would probably get an answer in a few minutes... good luck!!

He knows the main character was a man.

He doesn't know where it was.

He's brazilian so he was in Brazil, some 15 years ago.

He saw it on TV.

He says the way the guy got away with the fast car was awesome to him at that age (he was around 10)
