As for those panicking about the USCIS processing time update, don't worry too much. I ran a quick search on the app last night and, after some tampering around with a bunch of receipt numbers, saw that there are no cases around July 16 that haven't been worked on. Everything that's in the "other" category (iPhone app) was either withdrawn or something like "Document was mailed". That means there are no cases for that date that need to be processed anymore.

My assumption as for the change in processing times is that with the new administration coming in, USCIS expects changes and, consequently, delays in just about everything. Remember, they do not only adjudicate I129-F and I-130, and since one of Trump's top priorities is to fix immigration, that will affect USCIS and bring about changes. In order to implement them, they need time to reorganize and possibly a new manual for certain types of visas, i.e. DACA (I wish he wouldn't change that though). With inauguration around the corner and the 115th congress sworn in earlier this week, everything - government or not - seems to be a bit on the edge.

Bottom line is, let's not start panicking just yet; as Jim said, they also want to make sure that their helpline does not crash as there may be a lot of other people calling in, wanting to make sure that their cases get adjudicated prior to Jan 20. I'd say, up until March, there's really nothing at all to worry about (says someone who's patience is actually almost non-existent :))

Again, good luck to everyone; I hope for all of us that they get back to their pace earlier 2016 again by the end of Jan or beginning of Feb, when the new administration is settling in...

I completely agree that we just need to be patient and wait. There's no point in worrying.

That said, as a government contractor myself, I doubt it's due to the new administration coming in. Sure, there are plenty of people nervous and probably thinking how to prepare for changes, but until something actionable comes in, they're not going to make changes. That means either an executive order actually arrives, or a bill is signed into law. In my experience, government workers won't act because of a change that they think can come down the line...they'd never get anything at all done if that is the case. lol

My money would be on holidays + vacations causing a backlog, and maybe orientations or training. Department-wide training can easily last a full week and take up 4-8 hours of somebody's time each day. Well, at least that's the way it is with USPS' office teams.

I am curious as to whether that is provided by user generated data, rather than pulling from USCIS data.

As far as I know the receipt numbers are simply assigned sequentially as the petitions are received and do not contain beneficiaries country of origin. Maybe I am wrong on this and there is a way to tell that from receipt number? I know you can tell from pulling the number what kind of petition it is, but from which country?

if you can't tell, then I would suspect user entered data and simply an error. That or the December date was from an RFE as someone else mentioned.

The receipt number is not following the rule in here? http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-receipt-number

According to this, we have the following with my comment underlined:

WAC - California Service Center (CSC) OK

17USCIS fiscal year OK

900The working day of the fiscal year when your case is received But there are only 365 days a year

7 - Internal USCIS use (typically 5) But why 7?

3567 Starting at 0001, the order your case was recieved that day On a single day, 3566 were received before this case?

Any comments?

I think that must be out of date or something. My case  number doesn't follow that format at all (Day 901, over 7000 other apps that day, etc.).
