Hi everyone,

With the help of this great forum I got my permanent resident visa and will like information about what happens when I take my trip to the US in Dec/Jan.

I'm F1 ie My dad is a US citizen so family preference.

My six months ends mid Jan but I'm not ready to relocate until another year it seems. How do I go about this? What do I need to be careful of?

I'm travelling to the US for couple of weeks for Christmas and new year; what do I need to do while I'm there?

Do I try to get my social security number now? Will that have tax implications for me? I work in England and not moving to the US for another year or 2 it seems.

Do I need to take more vaccinations?

What do I need to do while travelling and at the airport?

Thank you.

hi

you will need to stay and file a reentry permit, or you will loose your GC

the GC is for living in the US, so if you don't you will loose it, but a reentry permit allows to be out of the US for more than a year and up to 2 years

you can get your SSN, it won't do any harm
