K1 interviews Algeria (round1)

hello;

here is my journey at the embassy today:

• Arrival at 8:15am.
• At the entrance they will ask for your appointment letter and your ID (they need an ID other than the passport, like Driving License or National ID).
• Go through security and scanning. Cell phones and electronic devises of any kind are not allowed. Back-bag, large bags are not allowed. Carry you papers in small hand bag.
• Walk through the embassy till you get to the consular section.
• Inside wait for your turn to speak to the receptionist (I found like 20 persons already ahead of me), she will ask for your passport, DS-160 and a 5x5 pic (you need an extra pic). She will attach your pic to the DS-160 confirmation page and stamp it and ask you to write down two phone numbers and your monthly salary. Then she will tell you to wait in a long line to pay the fee.
• Make sure to tell the lady you are there for an immigrant visa (K1,CR1,…) she think everyone is there for non-immigrant tourist visa. And applicants are not treated and processed the same way.
• We were 3 K1 waiting to be called to one of the windows (non-immigrant wait in long line to pay the fee first).
• When I heard my name I went to the assigned for me. An Algerian guy was waiting and he said: today we will take the papers we requested, your finger prints and pay the fees. You will have to come back tomorrow at 2pm to do your interview. He said there is a lot of applicant and not enough CO’s to interview everyone today.

It was disappointing but what can I do. I said ok. The list of document he took are:

1. Passport.
2. 2 pictures.
3. Birth certificate + translation
4. Court record + translation
5. A copy of Military card + translation.
6. Non marriage certificate + translation.
7. Affidavit of support:
   1. I-134 form.
   2. Employer letter.
   3. Pay stubs (I provide from January to July).
   4. 2015 W2.
   5. 2015 IRS transcript.
   6. Bank statement.
8. Relationship evidence & proofs:
   1. Intent to marry from both signed and dated.
   2. Boarding pass and passport stamps.
   3. Pictures.
   4. Hotel and flight.
   5. Skype chat
   6. Skype calls
   7. Phone text logs
   8. Emails
   9. Wedding preparations

He went through the items listed (2 to 7) page by page and he made sure everything is okay and nothing is missing and return the documents he did not need. He did not care about item 8 (proof of relationship) he took everything I gave him.

While he was done he ask me few questions:

• Where my fiancée was born?
• How did I meet her the first time?
• How old am I ?
• If I was married before.
• If My fiancée was married
• If My fiancée has kids.
• If I have a good English and fluent.

That is all I can remember now. So he said ok go wait and we will call you to pay and take your finger print.

At the waiting room the other 2 K1 guys went through the same process and they were told to come back in the afternoon at 2 pm to have their interview.

I did my finger prints and payed the fees and left the embassy around 9:30am.

What to remember:

1. An ID + your passport.
2. An extra picture.
3. Try to have your papers organized.
4. Try to have the exact amount of the fee since they run out of changes quickly.
5. They will deal with non-immigrant in the morning and come back to you in the afternoon.

another thing i remembered. the guy at the embassy ask me about my medical and if i did the urine sample. and he said it is a new medical test requested by USCIS worldwide and not only here. and they are aware that it may take few days to get the results.

don't worry to go to the interview without your medical..they understand.

please tell me about the Wedding preparations , it's good to prepare things beforehand but in case the visa is denied there will be an issue

it was not asked by the embassy or anything ... i just add it as proof we are planning the wedding.

we did not pay for anything yet .... we have some costs and estimation from different wedding places and venues. what they offer in their service and how much it will cost. things like that.

now im under AP (Administrative Processing)
