peejay,

I did not miss the point of the article. this is classic peejay posting. your outrage is at the fact that an illegal alien committed this crime.

My outrage is that this crime happened. In my book, killing ppl trumps being an illegal. By far.

I guess we have different priorities.

Daniel

:energetic:

This is classic Daniel...putting words in other people's mouth and putting your own deceptive spin on the issue. What I really said...these people would be alive today if this stupid sanctuary policy was not in place to forbidding the police from protecting the public. We have enough criminals in our country without importing more. Homegrown criminals eventually get returned to our communities (whether we like it or not)...illegal aliens do not have to be released into our community. These deaths were preventable and the sanctuary policy is to blame. The police should not be prevented from using every legal means to protect the public.

My deceptive spin? I was pointing out the fact that you have laser like focus for any and all evil produced by illegal aliens. Compared to focusing on the greater tragedy at hand (ie, the murdering of people by drunk drivers). When we find the solution for stopping this kind of crime, then, we can really celebrate. To me, it is apparent that your focus is different from what I focus on. <-- Not a spin.

I don't see it.

Of course not. You are too angry to see it due to the 'illegal alien' situation.

I agree Daniel-san. Something needs to be done about DUI. We have a guy here in Denver that was crossing the road with his wife n 2 young kids not long ago.... drunk guy in truck blew the re light doing times 1/2 speed limit. He is only survivor. I hate drunk drivers. Fackers never admit they have had to much and still drive.. or just drive anyway. When we change laws to actually prosecute first offenders, with serious jail time.. maybe then the issue will start to resolve itself.

I gave my solution. Instead of giving your own solution or debating the issue, you use the same tactics you have used numerous times in the past with me...which is to use personal attacks or make accusations. Nothing new here.

So you know me personally? As I said above...if you want to debate or to give your own solution, OK. If you want to level personal attacks or make accusations...I'm not going to continue trading posts. If my posts twist your tittie...don't respond to them.

I think you are missing the whole point of the article. The multiple DWI convictions and incarcerations is bad enough. The fact that the individual is an illegal alien criminal and was released repeatedly by local authorities is outrageous. They had 3 chances to deport this guy after he served time. That is malfeasance.

The sad fact is that Houston is a "Sanctuary City" for illegal aliens. Until a recently the police were forbidden by city policy from inquiring the legal status of arrested criminals in custody of police. While the situation has improved some in Houston, it is still a "Sanctuary City" even though the mayor and police chief deny it.

Why is his illegal status more important than the fact that he's 3 times DUI and killed people in the process? What about the non-illegal immigrant repeat DUI drivers who are able to rack up one DUI offense after another until they kill someone? Sure the guy shouldn't have been in the US to be able to commit this crime but he's just one of many repeat DUI offenders and *that* is the problem.

How many times does this have to happen? Wasn't there a senator that had previous DUIs when he killed a guy on a motorcycle not all to long ago?

You're thinking of the Kennedy's. Who will that wacky family kill next?

251310vh2.jpg

I believe it was a government official from North or South Dakota that did the deed that killed the motorcyclist in the incident refered to.

The fact that chemical impairment was involved with the tragedy is only SECONDARY to the fact that the ####### should not have been the the US in the first place to have been causing such havoc over and over.

Today, on the radio, there was a discussion of an Iraqi illegal in Denver who has had multiple offenses and been released many times to commit more crimes against innocents. He is continually released because he cannot be deported. Why? Because Iraq refuses to take him back. Iraq, where Americans are fighting and dying, is one of about 2 dozen countries, including China, that simply will not allow their illegals to be deported back home. SO, they are repeatedly released onto the streets where they are again free to accost strangers, molest children and commit crimes under the influence.

DUI or no DUI, that matters NOT AT ALL and amounts to nothing more than a red herring in this context. The bottom line is, US government is doing nothing for the common American, and sanctuary cities are not only defying federal law, they are doing so with help from federal officials. It is a primary responsibility, enumerated in the US Constitution, no less, and bolstered in case law, for the US government to defend and protect the borders of this country and to maintain the value of the nation. This farce of an administration is only the latest culmination of the unwillingness to do so.

I read about this criminal Iraqi lunatic. He needs to go back home...the sooner the better for America. I hope he is Baghdad bound real soon.

Iraqi immigrant sues from jail, claims Tancredo defamed him

By M.E. Sprengelmeyer, Rocky Mountain News

March 28, 2007

A jailed Iraqi immigrant has sued Rep. Tom Tancredo for $5 million, saying that the congressman defamed him during a controversy over so-called catch- and-release immigration enforcement last year.

The immigrant, Gavan Alkadi, 46, reportedly emigrated to the U.S. at age 15, but has been in legal limbo for the past several years. He faces deportation proceedings prompted by his various brushes with the law.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation records show he has been arrested more than 30 times in Colorado since 1981 on suspicion of offenses that include DUI and assault. Many of those charges were dismissed.

In 2002, he was sentenced to a year in jail for domestic violence and obstructing police in Boulder County.

Deportation proceedings began in 2003, but by the time Alkadi's deportation order became final in October 2005, the new Iraqi government would not or could not approve his return.

He was released in May 2006, which prompted Tancredo to send a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff - and media outlets - saying he was "shocked" that a "dangerous Iraqi national" was released despite his long criminal record.

Tancredo said it was part of a continuing "catch-and-release" policy by the White House. One outlet quoted Tancredo as saying he was making Alkadi the "poster child" for the issue.

Soon after Tancredo's letter, Alkadi was re-arrested. He was sentenced last month to a year in jail in connection with an assault in Weld County.

From jail, he filed a handwritten complaint last year, demanding $5 million for defamation of character, saying Tancredo falsely accused him of being a terrorist.

"U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo had caused Me Mental Stress and No Sleep Because I am always Thinking Why and How I Became his Poaster child," Alkadi wrote in the filing, which includes many spelling and punctuation errors.

Tancredo spokesman Carlos Espinosa declined to comment, citing the pending lawsuit.

This week, a preliminary status conference in the Alkadi case was scheduled for June 29 before Magistrate Michael E. Hegarty in Denver.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

If that's the case then what do you expect the US to do with the illegal citizens of these 2 dozen countries once they serve their sentences?

As far as Americans fighting and dying in Iraq, it has nothing to do with illegal aliens and everything to do with GWB and his administration. Please take it up with them.

I'm with Robert007; his illegal status didn't make anyone any more dead than they would have if he'd been a citizen or a B-2 holder. The problem here's the drinking.

Sure the status becomes second when lifes are lost. That would be like comparing young/old still doesnt change the ending. Except at the first arrest it could have changed the situation from then on if the status had been addressed.

100 % of illegal immigrants are criminals. So are we arguing over how many secondary crimes they commit?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Absolutely. That's where the failure is.

But the report is a bit how like if you want to make a headline, just tack 'Muslim' onto the front of a story.
