If working toward the beginning of Genesis, all time on Earth started at 4004BC.

There is a well known theologan (sure I don't remember his name) said that the extinct fossils were obscure sea creatures washed up during the firmament. This was to explain dinosaurs, and starfish and trilobite fossils high up mountain tops. Also explained that freshly flowed lava samples were dated by scientists to be 6 million years old, though it was only 6 days old.

And well-known theologians are experts on fossils, carbon dating and obscure sea creatures because?

Christianity and science don't cancel each other out. I am a Christian and I am comfortable with a 2 billion year old earth. The story of creation is just a parable to explain the unexplainable. It is very similar to other religions idea of how the earth was created. I do believe that God created everything. But IMO he set the rules of physics, planted the seed (big bang) and in the end He got what he wanted to create. My father on the other hand is a fundamentalist. He thinks that every word is the inspired Word Of God. He has is opinion and I have mine. We respect each others views.

The dinosaurs existed and died out because of evolution and natural selection. Period.

Oh, there is evidence of impact, I admit that. But as to the reason dino died out? Is it that simple and sudden? Again, in order to prove the theory, scientists would have to plow another massive asteroid into the planet and watch it die to prove their point.

No, we don't. Non-scientists have all sorts of funny conceptions of what constitutes scientific exidence or proof. In fact, there is no such thing as scientific proof. All scientific knowledge is tentative, which isn't to say that it would be a good idea to jump off a cliff to test Newton's Theory of Gravitation.

Evidence is very clear that dinosaurs went extinct within a few thousand years of the Yucatan impact and, as work continues, the time scale keeps shortening.

Evolution is a very well founded, thoroughly supported scientific theory that is just about as reliable as the theory of gravitation.
