The story photo shows a Galaxy Note7, but apparently it was a Samsung tablet that started smoking on a flight between Detroit and Amsterdam causing it to be diverted to Manchester.

A Delta flight from Detroit to Amsterdam had to divert to Manchester for two hours overnight Saturday into Sunday after smoke and an unknown smell developed in the passenger cabin.

A Delta official and senior US official both tell ABC News that the emergency on Flight 138 was caused by a Samsung tablet. The Delta official explained that the tablet fell inside a seat and became jammed after the seat either reclined or was returned to upright. Underneath the seat cover, the tablet and foam then started smoking and passengers could smell a strange odor.

The flight diverted to Manchester, where the seat was replaced entirely. After two hours on the ground, the flight was airborne en route to Amsterdam, where it landed at 5:11 ET.

"an unknown smell developed in the passenger cabin"

smells like most coach flights I have been on

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

My LG G3 went up in smoke on the charger a couple of years ago. I woke up to the noise of the screen shattering and the flames were about 8 inches high. The worst part about battery thermal failure is that it's a cascade reaction. You put the fire out, and within seconds to minutes, the next cell can go. After I put out the fire, I was trying to toss the phone out onto the driveway to minimize smoke in the house and it started on fire again as I was carrying it, and then a 3rd time out on the concrete at which point I just watched it until it was done.

I expect this is going to become more of a problem. They are trying to pack so much into small batteries that power huge screens and processors. Battery technology itself is actually safer than it has ever been, but the margin for error on failures is extremely small.
