Is EAD approval dependent on I-485? I must send more documentation.

Hi everyone,

My husband and I filed everything concurrently but realized upon receiving a "Request for Initial Evidence" letter in the mail today that I did not meet the required income level to support my spouse. (For some reason, I didn't understand this at the outset... the form was very confusing to me and I should've asked more questions)

I will have to obtain a joint sponsor but in the meantime my question is this: Does the delay in processing my I-485 also delay the receipt of my husband's EAD card? And does it make a difference that we filed concurrently? He is a teacher hoping to work in the fall. The irony is he doesn't need support as long as he's able to work... but the only way he can work is if he gets the EAD...

Please help!!! I called customer service and no one had the answer to my question.

Thanks so much for reading,

Jessica
