Hello friends!

I am feeling so excited, upbeat, and optimistic today, and I just want to share it!

Our case was finally received by the Embassy in Bangkok on 15 AUGUST, and on 16 AUGUST the Embassy mailed Packet 3 to Noom, so he should have it in a day or two. We're also waiting now for him to receive the English translations of his Thai documentation; he's to get those documents by Friday. So I think he'll be sending in Packet 3 to the Embassy by early next week.

It seems like things are finally beginning to happen, and we are both so excited! The past 4 months of waiting have been so hard, but now we're beginning to think this is going to happen! Could he actually be here by October? I think it is really possible. Of course there's still the dreaded interview, but I feel that we've got a great case.

I miss Noom so very much and cannot wait for him to be here with me so we can begin building our life together ... long distance international relationships are hard.

Hang in there everyone! Best of luck to us all!

~David & Noom

Congrats, I hope things continue to progress smoothly for you both!

My fiance just received his visa packet after a "brief" 6 month process. I can't speak to Thailand, but the embassy interview was the easiest part for Karl, in the Philippines.

Good luck!

Good luck everyone, my fiancée is coming monday and our interview is on tuesday !

Hi. I'm curious. Will your fiancee be able to attend the interview with you? Or just be there for support. I'm not allowed to attend Noom's interview...he has to do that on his own. But I want to be there while it is going on...to be supportive and to lift his confidence and to celebrate! I hope it works out that way, but we'll see.

Hello!

So when will Karl be coming to the States? What's the plan?

~David

I fly over to pick him up Sept. 1, and to say goodbye to friends and family. We return on the 5th and get married the next day.

We're so happy and the last few days of waiting are just agonizing! But so very worth it!

Wow wow wow! That is soon & so very exciting!

Noom will be submitting Packet 3 next week, so I hope his interview will be in early to mid September. I want to be there when he goes for the interview to be supportive and all....but we'll see. I will definitely go and bring him back.

I'm nervous about the interview....I feel confident we'll be approved...I mean nothing can stop real love, can it? But until it is in hand I'll worry. Noom is so excited and confident. He's started dis-assembling his life there.

What are your wedding plans?

So excited and happy for you both.... ~David

We're doing a very small and simple ceremony, a good friend of mine is going to officiate. Then we'll have a gathering at our house a few days later with our family and friends in the States.

I have been pleasantly surprised every step of the way during this whole process. Karl has had nothing but positive experiences in the Philippines, and everything has gone so smoothly. As religious as the Philippines is, Karl has had nothing but well wishes and genuine happiness from everyone he's met in the visa process, knowing he's in a same-sex relationship.

David, how did you and Noom get introduced? Karl "woofed" me on the Scruff app.

Your plans sound lovely really. And I'm so happy that Karl's experience and yours have been positive and supportive. That is wonderful!

So I was in Thailand on vacation in May 2014. And I was on Grindr...he started chatting with me. We chatted for hours...he was funny, charming, sweet...and his English was really good. But honestly I'm so shy...and online stuff makes me so uncomfortable. I kept resisting his suggestions that we meet. But after awhile I thought...he seems like a nice guy and I've enjoyed chatting with him, why not invite him to the hotel for a drink? And so I did. He said he'd be there in about 15 minutes. I told him I'd wait outside the lobby for him. So he can riding up on his motorbike...all smiles. He has the most beautiful smile! He got off the bike and introduced himself. We chatted for a minute. And then I said...do you want to come in for a drink? He said yes...but then suddenly there was a look of panic. He said he'd forgotten his wallet, and that contained the all important Thai ID card that Thais have to show when the go into hotels. He said he'd have to go back to his room and get it. He said he'd be back in 5 minutes. Well, I figured he was ditching me...didn't like my looks or something. And I thought I'd never see him again. But I told him I'd wait, and I did.And man was I surprised when he came flying up on the bike in about 5 minutes. And after that, we've been in a committed relationship. I've been very lucky that I've been able to visit him about every 3 months since then...and I have to say that I adore him. I always thought I'd end up moving to Thailand and we'd make our life together there. But I'm far from retirement...and the long distance relationship stuff is just too hard. So here we are....waiting and hoping and praying for a visa.

~David

Haha, yes, I've been flying to see Karl about every 3 months since we first met last August. Each parting has been a little less sad knowing we were getting closer to being together for good.

I was very hesitant to invest much more than simple chat with Karl at first, he was half a world away! What kind of crazy person gets involved with someone so far away?! But now we're crazy for each other and soon to be married :-D I never thought in my wildest dreams I'd find the love of my life in another country.

I'm sure everything will go well for Noom with his paperwork and interview. I was so stressed about the visa process with Karl and everything went so well. The embassy consuls are looking for any signs of illegitimacy, but they know love when they see it. Noom will do just fine and you'll be together soon. Much happiness to you both!

Apparently some embassies allow it and some don't...it is strange I think. He is in Thailand.
