Goes to show you can never be certain on all things what they will want. Our case just went to the embassy, and we are awaiting an interview date. We have not been asked for the original, as of yet. However, I've made certain my fiancé has the original for his interview, just in case.

I'm curious, at which stage did they ask for your original?

They did not ask me for the original yet, but it is available. I think Samia123 was saying they asked her for original. I hope she gets our message for more details.

We submitted a copy and brought the original to the interview. I think some of the confusion arises when people don't submit a copy of the entire divorce decree. USCIS wants the whole thing. Keep your original near by because this is only the beginning. You will need to submit a copy of it again and again each time you apply for the AOS ROC, N-400.

As the instructions state, you just need copies.

samia123 did not even file an I-129F petition. They did the I-130 for a spousal visa. Their timeline shows no RFE, so perhaps they were asked for the original at the interview. That is where you should have the original on hand in case asked for it, whether it be for a K-1 or CR-1 interview.

You can see this post and read through this whole thread to see that a copy is all that is needed. They do not give RFEs for sending a copy of the correct document > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/597572-picture-instead-of-copy/?p=8163931

Thank you both for your replies. I have sent copies in... and plan to have originals available here in case they ask for them and at the interview as well! Thanks again...
