Which line does the GreenCard spouse take when traveling, at customs?

When I, u.s citizen, and my spouse, greenCard holder, travel together, which line do we line up with at customs, if we want to stick together? Does she go to the citizen line, or do I go to the LPR line? What if we add her mom, a visitor to the mix? Can we all use the same line?

Typically there is Visitors and Citizens/Residents line , not separate Citizens / Residents.

It depends on the POE. Is some POEs in New York airports, citizens and green card holder will be on the same line while visitors form a separate line. If your POE had different lines, they might not allow you to be together. A visitor and you two can definitely not be on the same line.

We both used the resident/citizen line with no issues (POE Detroit). Last time we came through, Detroit had automated kiosks that sped things up quite a bit. If you are unsure at your POE, they usually have someone there to ask. As to your mother-in-law, I think she will have to use the visitor line, but I could be wrong.

if you're traveling together, the USC will go with the LPR if there are separate lines.

The visitor will definitely have a separate line.
