Hi all. I am inquiring on behalf of a friend. Her daughter is a US citizen. The Daughter wants to marry her boyfriend who is in Hong Kong. He already has a tourist visa. If they were to marry when he comes to visit, what are the benefits and or cons to this?

I would assume marry and file the correct paper work and it's a done deal but I could be very wrong

Coming to the US on a tourist visa with the intent to immigrate is considered fraud.

They could legally marry while he is here on his tourist visa, but he would need to return home and file for a marriage visa.

Either they should file for a fiance K1 visa now, and then the fiance can come to the US they can get married and adjust his status so he will become a permanent resident

OR

the fiance can come here and get married using the tourist visa, and then you will need to file for a CR1 visa, the fiance then husband would need to return to HK to complete visa processing
