I have never been a fan of police overreach and clearly understand why minorities fear the police. In my ERA mom taught us to go to a policeman if in trouble.

The folks on the other side of town , ie the quarater, got drug out of the house and beat by the police if they didn't pay the slum lord on time.

Most on here have no idea what real racism is like.

However when some criminal like M Brown tried to kill a police officer for no reason and many in the black community back him, I think it turns the clock back.

no need to go into 'real racism', no government agency should be allowed to seize property if no charges are filed. pretty basic. civil forfeiture of life is anot her topic altogether.

Actually, being denied service, not allowed into establishments because you don't have the "special access" card that doesn't exist, getting the 50 shades of black beaten out of you by the police, having young white dudes trying to vandalize your car, etc. I know the old timers think if we didn't get lynched or had dogs trying to eat us alive, we're the privileged generation who didn't experience racism. And that's just me, can't even post what J went through growing up...

The black community isn't backing Brown, they're attacking the way the police handled the situation. Too many differences in what really went down, leaving his body out in the street without covering it up for hours, lying about how we was almost beaten to death, making sure Brown's height and weight were common knowledge while hiding the fact that Wilson was in fact 6'2 and weighed just as much, and let's be real, it's been proven more than once that police tend to lie more often when the perps are POC. If no video was present for quite a few of these instances, we'd never know the truth.

Brown broke the law and should have been arrested. If the cop was in fear of his life and Brown was using deadly force, I have no issue with defending yourself. But, this rings hollow when white men have shot and killed multiple people(including police officers) and have been taking into custody alive and with very little injuries(sometimes not even a scratch on them).
