Affidavit of Support - Past or Current Income?

We are about to file our I-129F petition and I have been doing my research on the next steps. With regards to the I-134 or Affidavit of Support, does the consul give more weight to the last year's tax return/w2 or the current income of the US Citizen? My fiance was out of work last year as he was waiting for his job to start (yes he had to wait a long time), so his tax return certainly wont pass the required threshold. However he started work already (thank you lord) and his current income is way above the threshold (around 3x more). Hope those of you who went through a similar situation can give some insights. I would forever be grateful! Thank you!

I have seen some from the PI who haven't been asked for the I-134 sorry if I'm wrong but I'm sure you'll get help since there is a ton of PI in here and all very helpful :)

Yeah, I actually saw that right after I posted.. But I still want to be on the safe side and prepare it just in case they ask for it. Also, hello fellow Georgian! :)

Current income. And highly suggested to include a letter from his employer and copies of pay stubs. Also have copies of most recent tax return and W2.
