Hello everyone:

Hope everyone is doing great.

Here is my situation:

I am in F2A category and could file I-485 for AOS in June. My wife is petitioner and I am beneficiary. My wife have not job since graduation. I work in a company since 2014 by F-1 OPT and work totally around two years. Meanwhile, I and my wife filed tax return together this year as joint tax return.

I am wondering if I could file I-864 for myself as sponsor since my salary is above 60K. If so, what documents do we need to file?

If not, what else can we do for filing I-864.

Please give a comment if you have any advice.

Thanks a lot

You can add your income to her I-864 if your income will continue from the same source once you become a permanent resident. You will need to provide proof that it will continue. See the I-864 form instructions about using income from the intending immigrant.

If your income will not continue, then you will need a joint sponsor.

Being a petitioner, your wife will be always be the sponsor whether she has a job or not. Like kayDeeCee said, if your income from you employer continues after you get GC and you get the written verification of that, your wife can include your income in her i-864.
