Wait till he actually arrives so you save money. They are suppose to add him within a time frame after migrating, after that you will have to wait for the enrollment time. Check with your HR and ins carrier. I did.

Do you want to pay for health insurance for a person that is not in the US and not benefiting from the money you are paying. it's a waste of your money.

I work in HR. Our open enrollment was in March. I'll be adding my husband only after he arrives in the US.

You can do the same. He would need his passport or document from CBP that shows the date of entry to the US. Provide a copy of that to your HR and do a "Life Event" in your benefits portal to add him. There shouldn't be any issues. I've also confirmed this with my HR Director.

N-400/Citizenship process:

Applied online: 9/06/2020

NOA1 received: 9/07/2020

Biometric: reuse letter received 1/19/2021

Interview: 5/12/2021 - APPROVED!!! 😃

Oath Ceremony: 6/04/2021

For some of us, might still be worth the cost... we only had to show our marriage certificate. Gave me international coverage also.

Really? i'm surprised by that. A marriage certificate would work if you were adding within the normal 30 days after, but if the spouse is not being added till later due to being out of the country usually something more is needed.

Oh ok. that explains it. If you're adding them as a "Life Event" much later, the marriage certificate wouldn't be enough.
