I can't find this anywhere

Can anyone get advance parole? Do you need a specific reason for advance parole? If so, what reasons are valid?

My fiancé and I are waiting for our k-1 to process. If I have to work on Christmas and new years, she wants to go back to Japan and see her mother who is elderly.

You file for AP together with your EAD and AOS. This gives you the permission to leave the US and and return if you want to leave the country before granted permanent residency.

Until shes in the USA and adjusting her status, no she doesnt need advance parole. Only people without a green card or multiple use visa need advance parole. So AOS people may need AP. A K1 visa, once issued, is a one time use visa.

Thanks for your replies. Yeah, I am aware that she doesn't need it while we wait. I'm asking about after she's here and we marry.

I'm aware we need to file with the other papers. I have read that it saves time and money. I've gotten lots of information about advance parole excep:

After we marry, is there any criteria which USCIS needs to make the decision to grant an advance parole or not I,e, if she wants to visit family, is this reason enough for USCIS to grant advance parole.

She doesn't "need" to apply for EAD or Advance Parole. But those are free to apply and it is a good idea to apply for them because she never knows when she might suddenly need them.

In the application process, she is not asked for a "reason" why she wants AP. There isn't really any criteria besides the fact that she is an AOS applicant. Grant of AP is discretionary but there isn't really any reason why they would deny it.
