Never in my life have I ever worked just 40 hours a week. Ever. That would feel like being retired to me.

Retirement can be a ball!

I'm sure it can be.

There was this girl once we used as holiday help in our shop. $10 an hour cash as a subcontractor. All kosher with the IRS.

We then wanted her to come in for a few hours every Tues. At the time she was working part-time in a jewelry store a couple blocks up from us. One day she walks in, says she's not going to be able to keep working on Tuesdays cause her boss in the other place offered her more hours cause she prefers her there more so that it doesn't affect her work and she "can only work so much". AFTER being offered the extra hours she was still under 40 hours a week.

People are lazy.

and judgemental.

Who me? I'm not judgemental, just talking from experience. I'm not talking about you or me or anyone else that has never worked less than 50-55 hours a week. Hell there are times my wife and I even today(during peak times like major holidays) work 110-120 hours in a week. We go on very little sleep. I consider people that think 40 hours a week is alot to be lazy. 40 hours a week is a vacation.

Ah she broke your heart, did she? She could have been offered a discount on the jewellery? Invites to happening parties by the customers..No idea what your biz is, and what incentives you were offering, but if you want the girl back, ya betta work'it.

We don't want her back. We don't deal with people like that. In fact, afterwards we had(still have) another girl working for us(meghan) who is professional and, most importantly, reliable(as I do not find coming in the morning you are supposed to work just to say you quit to be very reliable). Several months ago, the former girl(sarah) stopped by - probably needed some money. Said if we needed any help for the holiday(I believe it was xmas) to give her a call. Needless to say she received no call.

Hmm..Sarah, is it. Playing hard to get won't always work ya know....Meghan sounds a barrel of laughs! Well if your biz doesn't need the glamour, don't change a thing;)

Hey, let's go back to working 7 days a week and getting locked inside your work so you don't have any smoke or pee breaks. Why did we stop doing that anyway? Gee, I just can't remember...

i don't even know a single soul that doesn't work seven days a week. i've never worked anything less than eight days in a week before in my life.
