Your case status online will not change until you are put in line for an interview or when an interview has been scheduled for you, whichever comes first.

While this was true when you and I applied, they changed the system in April and now there is an update for when fingerprint notices are sent out.

Here's an example: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/590745-n-400-april-2016-filers/?p=8131912

However, many people don't get this update, so it looks like some case status accounts are still on the older system that we're used to.

Hi I'm new to the forum. I sent my application in May. I already had my fingerprint appointment. However, when I check my case status online it hasn't change at all. It only says we received your application a receipt was sent to you an all that . Is that normal?

I wouldn't worry about it; you got your bio letter and attended your appointment; that's what matters. Some updates don't show up on the account. Your next notice will be inline for interview.

Hey guys... side question.

We are thinking that, after I become a citizen, i will request my parents.

However, my husband asked me yesterday if he could request them. Can that be done? I never even consider it so I didn't know what to say. Things are so crazy back home that the sooner the better.

Request? You mean petition for your parents? Your husband cannot petition for them, only you can after getting your citizenship.

Ok.. so, now I'm worried!

I did my bio appointment on 06/03 and still nothing saying I'm in line. I went back all the way to December filers and usually people in houston get that letter within of their bio appt. Maybe 1 or 2 with a different scenario.

Should I be worried??? I'm almost to the three week mark.

You fall into the "different scenario" category.

Looks like you didn't apply 90 days early (going by the green card date in the table). If you had, you wouldn't be placed inline until 1 month before your green card anniversary date.

Since that doesn't apply to you, that means that your background check hasn't cleared yet. If it had, you'd be inline by now.

Nothing to worry about at all, but don't hold your breath; this will likely (but not definitely) take a while.

We had 4 Houston applicants in December 2015. Three were placed inline within a week of biometrics. I was placed inline 3.5 months after biometrics. All four of us have our oath ceremonies tomorrow. Due to the interview backlog in Houston, there isn't much advantage to being placed inline early.

In Houston 7-9 months is normal for the N400 process recently. 6 months would be fast and 10 months would be slow. That's the time estimate from application to oath. Plan accordingly, but realize that things could speed up or slow down depending on the number of applicants each year.
