not only did the cops chase down and shoot a 14 year old (twice, thank goodness he was only injured) but also..

Young found her son lying on the street, bleeding, according to the newspaper, which has her account:

"Young said she pleaded with police: 'Is my son alive?'

"She said she was leaving to call the hospital when officers handcuffed her and put her in a police car.

" 'It was humiliating,' she said.

"She said she was taken to a police station and asked questions. At one point, she said, she was put in a cell. She said officers told her she was being belligerent.

"After two hours, she estimated, she was driven to the hospital: 'I begged them to take me.' "

Davis said police interviewed Young. He also defended the way the officers handled the shooting incident: "That's what they're supposed to do. That's what cops do."

if that's what cops are supposed to do, what happened to the premise of serve and protect, exactly?

What's interesting is how this KEEPS happening in place like this where in other places where open carry is legal, folks be walking around with assault rifles and shotguns with extra large magazines basically challenging cops to do something about it and they never wind up dead.

while the boy being shot is tragedy enough, what really got me is that they handcuffed and put the mother in the back of the police car and took her down for questioning. i mean can you imagine, knowing your child has been shot and having the police detaining you from going to the hospital? my god, so disgusting.

I eagerly await for the gun lobby to use this as an example why we need open carry in Baltimore, so that little boys can run around with their guns without fear of being shot... right? Rrrrriiiiight?

Apparently they hauled the mother off because ''she knew he went out with a replica gun''. I guess we need a law against replica guns now. I need to know if someone is carrying a real gun or not before I go into a public restroom. ;-)

Unsure. It is on major networks, though they have to be careful of what they show, and only on one local network at this time. Most of our stations are in one location so everyone had to run. This is a Fox affiliate, so it is on Fox. They have footage but will not show him be downed. Local affiliate says he was hit several times, but that he has some sort of detonator in his hand.
