Hello,

I am working with my finace to get ready for the consulate interview. I understand it's best to keep answers short, direct and to the point. With this in mind, I am trying to pin down the right balance between brevity and comprehensiveness.

For instance, for a citizen named William Phillip Johnson, if the CO asks, "What is your fiance's name?", is it best to say the full name, or just the name he goes by, such as shortening it to Bill Johnson? I also worry about my fiancé knowing all of the different cities/states for my parents/siblings, so I was thinking of telling him to start with the state, then say the city and state if called upon for both.

Any advice? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ditto what Georgia16 says. The interview is to test the sincerity of the relationship, not how much you know. Be honest. If you don't know an answer, just say that you don't know. Don't be scared and timid. Be confident. Smile. Relax. You'll be OK.

Are you both of different nationalities? If so, I would suggest bringing as much relationship proof as possible.

If you participate in the thread below, you'll notice that it's a bit difficult for interracial couples at the Bangladesh embassy:

Even if you're both Bengali, you should still participate in the above thread!

Thanks for the thread. Yes, we are an interracial couple, although why that is an issue to the consulate is beyond me.

Because the CO may believe that immigration fraud is being committed. That your SO is marrying you simply for immigration benefits and because interracial marriages don't happen a lot in Bangladesh.

It is therefore, your responsibility to prove to the CO that you both indeed love each other, intend to marry and live out the rest of your lives together. Providing evidence that your SO's family is accepting of this relationship would also be a plus point, if possible.

I believe theres a few couples in that thread who have had a hard time. Hopefully, your SO's interview goes well!

Same-sex interracial marriages happen even less ;). He probably would have had better, and safer, luck committing visa fraud with a girl instead of me, if that's what he really wanted. The country's laws on the subject were not lost on me when I went to visit him last month.

I only saw three K-1 interviews for Dhaka in the consulate reviews, so I doubt I will have much in the way of precedence to rely on for our circumstance. How the CO will react I have no idea.

Ahh, okay. Yes, then lots of relationship evidence should be provided! As long as the both of you can prove your relationship is real, then he should be approved without any obstacles!

If possible, it would also be great if you could attend the interview as well!

Wishing you the best of luck!
