My fiancee's interview is in two weeks. I sent her copies of 2014 taxes, not that I found official documentation to do so. Now people (Facebook Visa group) are scaring her that she needs my 2015 taxes (such an evil thing) which I yet done since I need more papers (not like I am getting any money back either, just owing even more).

Should I find a way to rush the taxes done tomorrow to get it in mail? Does she need 2015 taxes?

Thanks.

The 2015 federal income tax filing year is still open and in progress.

The filing deadline to submit 2015 tax returns is Monday, April 18, 2016, rather than the traditional April 15 date. Washington, D.C., will celebrate Emancipation Day on that Friday, which pushes the deadline to the following Monday for most of the nation. (Due to Patriots Day, the deadline will be Tuesday, April 19, in Maine and Massachusetts.)

Let her proceed with the interview. The requirement is most recent tax return, if you don't have the 2015 yet then 2014 is most recent. If they asked for 2015 then your fiancee should tell the CO you are still in the process of filing and not done yet as of that day. Worst case scenario, she get a 221g for the 2015 ITR.

On the brighter side, US Embassy Manila are not asking for I-134 and supporting docs lately. So let her proceed to the interview and worst case, she gets a 221g. That of course you can comply easily.

No. Current income is key, so the copies of pay summaries/stubs and employer letter is key. Taxes only show financial worth in the past but for example for students, there may not be any.

The 2015 tax return is not required until after April 18. You will use the 2014 tax return.

The only reason you would use the 2015 taxes, is if you had already filed it. You have not, so stick with the 2014 taxes.

Piia, that is true. I do not know if the Embassy people things care or not.

Rich, man, $80 for me to send out more papers... I should have sent these out with the last $80 bundle... <sigh> She could print things in some cafe, but I have no idea if they keep electronic copies of all their copies, scans, faxes. Most business do now so they keep track of stuff. These papers do have my social security number.

Cristina, I am wondering if I should. Rich's experience seems to be with Nigeria (if the experiences there differ at all with requirements). My fiancee told me the 221G is hard and takes a couple more weeks, and I really can not keep paying her rent there (she can not find work either and people keep getting shot in broad daylight). I will SAVE money once I get her here. I am so conflicted....

Ruta, I did send her that. She has my W2s of 2014 and 2015, and 2014 tax returns (all 40 pages of that junk of just me owning money). Another reason I am not anxious to file.... I be owing more to pile on since 2013.

I need a pizza....

Nothing to worry about. Most recent is 2014 if you don't have the 2015 yet, my fiance just filed his 2015 today. If you have it before the interview, email it to her and have her printed it out locally. Ok, so to prevent your files with SSN from being stored, your fiance have to see that they delete the file if they copied it on their computer at the inet cafes.

If you don't have it, you don't have it.. the docs you sent her are all sufficient.

Worrying about what??? People getting killed in broad daylight??? I am from Metro Manila, this is the same city wherever you go, people get killed everywhere - have you read about Turkey, Paris? We cannot be frantic about these things- we live our lives.. anyway, out of topic. I worry more about my fiance driving home on the freeway with so many incident of car crash death in California than my safety here in Metro Manila.

I finished my interview in January 11, in Embassy Manila. I have with me Tax Returns for 2014-2012, W2a for 3 years, Certificate of Employment and I-134. That's it. NONE OF THESE WAS ASKED FROM ME. You fiancee should be fine.

I am not sure about saving a lot of money when she get there, cost of living here is way much cheaper. Unless you rented a $500 dollar condo for her;) and paying everything.

I don't think the anxiety is from the incomplete docs and lacking 2015 ITR, I think you are more worried that you owe a lot in taxes in your ITR and not confident showing your ITR and not too eager to file for 2015 either. Well that's life - just show whatever you have. Nothing can be done about anything else.

You need your MOST RECENT tax return, currently that is the 2014, at least until 15 April ;)

Follow the embassy instructions letter.. always.
