I am in the US now on my K1 visa, and I had an appointment today to get my vaccines but when I showed form I-693 to the lady she said they don't sign this kind of documents, so we called another clinic and they told us that in order to get the papers signed they would do the complete medical examinations (vaccines + physical) which of course would elevate the cost by about $300-500 dollars.

Do I have to take the full examination? If I only take the vaccines and send the record they give with out the I-693 signed would there be any problem?

Thanks in advance :)

no you don't have to redo the medical, especially if you did it recently. If they read the civil surgeon instructions, it tells them that you don't have to redo that if you've had it within a year. Sounds like they trying to milk you for money

Did you get the DS-2035 from when you did the medical in Mex? You should be able to send just that. The most important thing is that you have received all required vaccinations. My husband had to get another MMR shot here to complete the series. Only cost $50 for that plus for them to fill out the I-693. We did it this way because the form the doctor gave him was really DARK and HARD to read. didn't want to risk an RFE for the doc being "unreadable" or something

But you know if you are still not sure, just keep calling different civil surgeons. Surely ONE of them has read their own instructions

I believe that Mexico does not provide the vaccinations (am I correct KayDeeCee?), but you do not need a new full medical. Keep calling around as noted above. Good luck.

Correct.

Juarez most likely will not give vaccinations or provide a DS-3025. The medical will be valid for a year, but you will probably need to see a civil surgeon to get the vaccinations done. Some people get a useless blank DS-3025. See this post > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

You may have to call around to find a civil surgeon that will do the vaccinations only. There is a long going thread here on VJ to help with finding one > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/231026-civil-surgeons-who-dont-rip-you-off/page-15

What KayDeeCee said. The sad news is you have to pay to play. Civil surgeons can be a hit or miss shot in the dark. We ended up with a bait and switch. Was told one price on the phone only to arrive at doctor's office and was told something else. At that point we were ready to file AOS and paid the price to get the civil surgeon behind us. The doctor knows he or she has you over the barrel.

God Bless

My Son in Law got vaccinations in juarez by mistake. He got the vaccination certificate. Can he use those for his AOS right? and will he still need to see a civil surgeon. the vacccination report is in english.

Thanks,

If someone was lucky enough to get the vaccinations at their K-1 medical and have all the required vaccinations marked off on a properly filled out DS-3025, then that is great > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

What was his secret for getting them done at the K-1 medical? Many people are refused the vaccinations, even when asking for them at the medical.

Hello Kaydeecee:

They gave him the vaccinations by mistake thinking he was on a spousal Visa and not K1. The clinic accepted the mistake, returned his money(about 200.00) and gave him a copy of the shots. The only question we have is that MMR does not have a B in the next column but the form is signed and says complete and something about a waiver.

I wish they would not consider it a 'mistake' and give the vaccinations to K-1 applicants so they could all get a DS-3025 to use for AOS.

If they marked off and dated at least one shot for the MMR, then I would send a copy of it as is, and not worry about seeing a civil surgeon for an I-693 unless directly asked to in an RFE or at an interview(should you have one).
