Any ideas when I can expect:

  • to be authorized to work legally until becoming a resident?
  • to have an interview with an Immigration Officer?
  • to receive a green card?

If anyone has any idea, experience, or could asked someone, I would appreciate the help.

I will start applying for jobs in 1-2 weeks and this information will be very helpful.

My info:

  • Male, 29 years old. Never married. No kids.
  • Parents are the U.S. citizens.
  • Currently a student on F-1 visa. Graduating Spring 2016.
  • I applied for the Adjustment of Status (I-485) based on the fact I was selected in the DV2016.
  • I'm using an immigration lawyer.
  • My process is different than usual Diversity Visa Lottery winners go through.
Here is explained how "Diversity Visa Winners Legally Residing In the United States" can apply through I-485.

Timeline:

Quick question: Why aren't you a US citizen if your parents are?

Otherwise, you can probably take a look at the VJ timelines that people have posted for I-485 AoS. You cannot work until you have your EAD.

I did not apply for the EAD because I was on H-1B, but I'm sure there are other timelines you can peruse.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/211421-rprp123/ has a timeline in his signature showing when he received EAD.

akihon, my parents moved here 8 years ago or so, got their green cards since my brother is a citizen, got their passports later on. I was too old to go through the process smoothly. From what I know only persons below 21 have "easy" process.

Thanks for helping

Your brother can also sponsor you. The only thing about sibling sponsorship is that it can take over a decade.

Case Number.

You can only adjust status when you CN is current.

For February for Europe is 19,100. If you're below that number you can AOS.

My Case Number is 18,XXX.

I'm using an immigration lawyer, so my every action goes through her.

I assumer that providing an information that I am using an immigration lawyer, tells enough that I do everything within the deadlines, timeframes, the documents are updated, etc.

I should include this info. I apologize for not doing so.

If you're approved on the spot, the green card will probably arrive in the mail about a week later. At least, that was the case for us earlier this month.
