Would it be better if I studied and went to university/college in the UK in the country I live in now, and then apply for a work visa or go to study in the US and then applied for a work visa when I graduate?

Better for what? What i your ultimate goal? Student visas and many work visas are non-immigrant visas. Meaning no direct path to green cards.

Getting work and then eventually a green card yes.

If you study in the US, then your classes, degree, grades are more in line with American businesses. You have 4-6 years to network toward finding a job after graduation.

Major in something that can translate into a career...engineering, accounting, computer science, etc. Do an internship.

Psychology, literature, and the like won't put you in a field with a company that will desire you so much they will spend many, many thousands to get a visa for you.

Make excellent grades and become involved on campus with activities where you can have leadership positions to make you more attractive to employers.

And if academics fail, you have had 4+ years dating American girls and may find the love of your life and another path.
