My fiancee is a French foreign national living in Vancouver on a work permit. Does anyone have a similar background for a K1 visa? What consulate did you get?

When it's time to interview he will be interviewed in Vancouver. That is as long as his work permit is still good. If it expires before the interview he will have it in France.

I am french and live in Montreal. I got my permanent residency last March so i can pass the interview here in Montreal and not have to go to Paris. I think a valid work permit should work too but I cannot attest of it.

Not for this... Montreal or Vancouver.

Living near Toronto means Montreal.

Any ideas why the only consulates are in Montreal and Vancouver? The Toronto area is pretty big. I'm surprised they don't have a consulate that can handle these things there.

Control of cost. It used to be available in more consulates until the mid-2000s. Similarly, most Canadian consulates in the USA offered visa services and it is now limited to New York and Los Angeles.

Only DCF case I remember was done in Montreal in 2006 maybe, and they lived in Calgary... might have been possible elsewhere before.

yes Dr Cheema isnt too far from where i live and it will be fun to go visit Montreal - I loved it last time I was there.
