Hi,

My ex wife and I have been separated since May, 2014, she has an affair and left for her lover. Filed for divorce in July, 2015, then I took a vacation to Laos and met my fiancee. Divorce is going to finalized in March 1, 2016. How long should I wait after the divorce to filed the petition for my fiancee? I was thinking about filing in April, should this be okay?

I was separated 4 years from my ex but not divorced. My divorce was final on Nov. 5, 2015 but I didn't get the documents for a little while to prove it. I applied for my K-1 Fiance Visa in December. We are approved and awaiting NVC to contact us now. So if you are US citizen, I agree with Proudly Canadian. Divorce is Divorce. When it is final, it is final and you can move on to your new life. If you have your divorce decree by the 1st of March then I 2nd..... MARCH 2ND!
