hello everyone i wish u all are good

i really wanna get the answer for this question

So my wife seen a post in a visa group stating how when she went to file taxes she had explained her situation as her spouse being in another country but they tax agent marked her as single and now there is a red flag at the interview stage this has me concerned because last year when I filed my taxes I told the lady I had gotten married but because he was in another country and had no ssn and he was not there to file with me she marked me as single does anyone here have experience on this if so what did you do as it's time for me to file again should I file married but separated?

We had this done to us one year, "file as single and amend taxes when you have an ssn" is what we were told. But you can't file as single if you're married. You can file married, filing separately or apply for an ITIN number and file jointly. You have until April 15th to file your taxes for last year. You also have I think 3 years to amend prior returns.

Hi;

I just filed my 2015 income taxes recently. Since our case is still being processed, my filing status was listed as "Married filing separately" and the tax preparer listed under spouse's S.S. number as "applied". I had to mail my return in as I did not qualify for e-filing.

If you weren't working between January 01st 2015 to December 31st 2015 then you don't have any wages to declare on taxes. If you were working at all between those dates you just input all the data on to your tax forms. It's really straight forward. You won't have to declare 2016's income until you come to file taxes in 2017.

Be sure to include your ITIN application with your tax return and you're good to go.
