Has anyone recieved their EAD / work permit?

If so, how long after biometrics?

I doubt any Feb filers have received anything yet. But I hope we will all get something soon.

I had an InfoPass appt, and out of curiosity I asked if walk-ins help speed things up. The officer said, absolutely not. He said :"We will get to you, when we get to you, you know".

He told me we can only start asking questions "AT LEAST!!!" (lol) 75 days after filing the case. And they will really care only after 90 days...hmmm But hey, sounds good, right? We can all add 75 days to our filing day and hope. Dunno, he made me feel better about it. :)

True the Feb filers are just getting appointments for biometrics (hopefully).

I assume infopass is for questions etc. I don't understand what you mean by 75 days.

At our biometrics appointment we were told a matter of weeks for EAD ( less than one month).

Every case is different. We did K1 visa process. Thanks for responding

They throw that 'a month from biometrics' out occasionally at the ASC. It is not true. Maybe if you get an expedite granted. Apart from that it is supposed to take a max of 90d from filing/NOA-1. Current averages are 85d. It is much slower if you get a RFE.

I am from the January filers thread - no EADs/APs there yet. The early Jan filers can hopefully get something soon...

I am expecting another 30d...

Don't be nervous, it's super simple.... bring ID + letter and you'll be done in 20-30min. Bring marriage certificate if there were any name changes.

It's better that he doesn't come. I've been to two different locations and both of them told everyone that didn't have an appointment (i.e. husbands/wives/friends not actually getting biometrics done), to leave because there isn't enough space.

Also, don't bring your cellphone. They really appreciate it if you leave that in your car.

AOS:

  • 04/23/16 EAD received
  • 01/09/17 Case scheduled for interview - notice received in the mail
  • 02/14/17 AOS Interview - approved at the interview - happy Valentine's Day!

Zero reason to be nervous. There are no questions asked, just fingerprints and a photo taken and as someone else stated, there usually isn't room for someone to go with you. I know the office I went to, if someone accompanied you, they were not allowed past reception into the waiting area.

As for the cellphone, just make sure it's off before you enter the building and stays off the ENTIRE time. No need to leave it behind.

K1, EAD/AP + AOS + ROC = 0 RFE's

Next step: Citizenship!

me too but I'm afraid that they might request 2015 tax return... we haven't filed yet because my husband self-employed and it takes a while to process everything and I'm also afraid that he might not make a poverty guideline for 2015 tax year even though I have worked in 2015 and made close to the poverty limits, they just might not accept my lawful income... I don't know what I would do then...

Ugh...my husband filed his just in time before we filed AOS...but he's been on unemployment since December of 2015...he also has a part time job and he is a full time student and though he is wayyyy over the poverty line I'm a tad bit scared the plague of RFE's might befall us, since mostly everyone is getting one as a gift. Ugh. All will be well I have faith Edited by HopeFab
