Hello VJ,

I always knew my fiance had a friend studying in America but when he was filling out his DS-160 under other relatives section he told me that his friend is a very far relative that he doesn't really know exactly their relationship but that this friend is from a family that is related to his grandfather. My question is should we answer yes to "other relatives in US" since we don't even know their relationship, just somehow far related? Will answering "yes" raise red flags in our case? (His friend is on a study visa in a different state)

Answer No. No need to include if it was a far-far relative that they cannot even explain.

Answering YES will not raise a flag, my parents are in the same city as my fiance and so many uncles, aunties and cousins. I got my Visa and 2 K2 Visas.

Someone please answer.

Should I answer Yes, my family root is like.

My grandpa has 2 wives.

Wife 1 is my real grandma (mommy of my mother)

Wife 2 and her children(i call aunties) r living now in Washington DC.

My grandpa and 2nd wife has no marriage documents, there is long time ago they lived together and had children.

(So fr documentary side, they would have no relationship, but all family members knew my aunties)

Im not really sure I should say yes or no, I know them but rarely chat or talk to them. So I worry if in case, I say yes I need to contact them to get their address or contact info.

If I answer NO, any impact to my K1?

Thank you for your help, but this is more complicated than just distant relatives, they are so distant that he is not even sure how they are related and even if they are related. So putting yes when we are not sure that its true, can this be correct?

They don't even know how are they related. I would answer NO.

It's up to the OP. No other field after that question. I would say yes for all blood relatives I know. This will not impact your K1 visa application.

I'd answer No but it doesn't matter even if you answer yes in my opinion. The purpose of the ds-160 on this portion doesn't really affect k1 since you're obviously aiming to immigrate. This mostly pertains to tourist visa applicants and how they are trying to scrutinize if the applicant might potentially try to immigrate through their relatives.

Someone please answer.

Nope, no impact.
