I've been in computers for about 35 years and the changes are totally amazing. I have a hand-held financial calculator that has more memory than the first computer I programmed on! I wonder what it will be like in another 30 years

my first comp was a trash 80 :D

first ibm compatible was a 386sx :help:

I remember having: Apple IIe, Ti99, Comadore64, and a 386SX with an add-on math co-processor. After that was a 486DX and I think a Cyrix (SUCKY) and AMD 586? I lose track. I do remember paying $300 for that 486DX, $640 for 16MB of EDO RAM, $350 for a 345MB hard drive, $200 for a 2MB Matrox Millenium SVGA card. <=== The cost of that makes me cry. I still have my Matrox card, Diamond Monster 3D card, and original Soundblaster 16.

Out of the office waiting for some ppl to show them some property. Obviously they're late!!!! But I'm surfin the net on my Treo...which is such a novelty to me that I'm amazed, lol. I'm posting from my car! Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

I am a closet Tech Geek

I just got a new TREO 700 P Love it.

I have owned almost every generation of Palm Pilots

My Treoo700P is the first Smart Phone I ever owned.

I love all the awesome features.

GOOGLE MAPS fro TREO Google Maps is best App.

If you have not downloaded Google maps to your TREO yet, you are missing the best Free App available for Treo.

It shows maps & Satelite images, you can look up near by businesses and call them from Google maps & also shows real time traffic.

I Use my Treo to do a lot of Patient tracking and Charting it is a great tool for anyone.

Yes Technology is awesome!!

isn't that a Treo 700W?

I've got the P...it's the Palm software.

And here's summat to put it in perspective...I had a smart phone in the UK circa 2003!!!

but eh, even bluetooth is a 'new' technology here, lolz

ty for the google maps link, I'mma check that out!

I Initailly test Drove the 700W, IMO Windows on the treo is a pain in the #######.

the 700P is more user friendly, I switched to the 700P. I am very Happy with it.

Google maps is AWESOME! iIt sounds like you may be ia Realator, no matter what you do, Google maps is an awesome tool it is like having GPS/ & The yellow pages in the palm of your hand.

 i remember the matrox, i had the same card. nowadays i'm running on a 256 mb card.

i think the progression for me was trs-80, commodore 128 (waste of time), then a 386sx, a 486dx33, a pentium 166, and just 5 years ago jumped to a 2 ghz dell and a 2 ghz compaq. memory is much cheaper nowadays. i made the mistake of spending something like $1200 on a 1.5 gb scsi hd for the 486 though.

i hate quantum drives..........

I love tech gadgets,

My smart Phone Treo 700P uses SD cards so I carry all my Mp3's on an 8GB SD card and swap them from my phones

Mp3 Player to Mp Creative Mp3 Player. Also Store all my Photos and business document on SD cards.

My other favorite Tech Toy is my Garmin Forerunner GPS Training Watch, I use it for running, it tracks speed, distance, even calories burned. ( Triangulates by up to 7 different Satellites)

$640 for 16MB RAM? What a bargain. I paid $300 for 16KB for my first computer, the Heathkit H8. Still have that computer (as well as most other computers I've owned) and just like a first love, I have lasting fondness for it. Other computers I've owned are, Sinclair ZX81, Atari 800, Commodore 64, Apple IIe, Apple IIc, Apple IIgs, too many Macs to remember, Toshiba 380SX Portable (first IBM compatible), Digital 486, several other Windows machines can't remember. Haven't gotten into the Palmtop/smart phones yet. The treo sounds like something to check out when I have money again.

didn't know the P was considered a smart phone too!

I initially had the 650 cos I bought it 2005, but I recently lost it and wouldn't you know this was what the insurance replaced it with? hahahaha. I would have liked the W cos that's what my Orange Smartphone had on it (the one from England)...it was really cool.

I already have a dedicated GPS...well an HP pocket pc with tomtom loaded on it with a GPS bluetooth receiver. Is google maps gonna make that obsolete? lol

Yes Technology is awesome!!

It downloaded / Hotsynced alright into my (old) 650,...but it's not able to get online with my treo!

Because of my treo has LOST its phone program due a fatal / inrepearable "Palm" crash during a call!

Guess the program works,.....BUT,......you do HAVE to be ONLINE for it to work.

In other words; every minute that goes by using the "google" maps on the road, is gonna cost YOU alot of Airtime $$$$$$$$$! :o:wacko:

I dont recommend "google" maps for frequent long haul / day to day GPS users,...it's gonna get ya'll broke!

Your better of with one of those pre-programmed TomTom, Garmin, ect; navigation systems,...buy once, and no subscribtion, or online fee's whatsoever!!;)

I failed to mention that you needed internet connection.

I agree that Pre-programmed GPS system probably is a better solution if you drive all day and use it for work.

As far as Google Maps on TREO, my Cell phone bill is 70.00 / month with unlimited data plan. Google maps is a great feature for me I have used several times to look up local business' like using yellow pages I find location, & can call business directly from google maps.

Get real time traffic, info Satelite images you can zoom in for close up birds eye view.

It works the same way google maps does on PC.

The first computer I built back in 92 had a 210 MB hard drive. My friends said I was nuts for getting a HD so big.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
