Age difference - financial support

I may be jumping the gun here since we are not engaged yet. After several trips to Ukraine, I may have found the one.

In the length of courtship thread several posters thought a 71/47 age difference might raise a red flag at the embassy.

Are there any situations where we know a petition was rejected for this reason? My age difference is 61/30.

There was also one person concerned that providing financial support might raise a red flag.

Are there examples where we know a petition was rejected for this reason?

Because my girlfriend has a good job as a teacher, a minor child, strong family ties, and owns her home, I think she has a good case for a tourist visa while we we develop our relationship. I would bear all of the costs of her visa application and, if approved, travel.

She is an English teacher and her English is very good. If we get engaged, I will sponsor her for additional lessons. I have a relationship with an English school there.

And I would also pay for her driver training in Ukraine.

The reviews of the Ukrainian embassy that I read are good.

Is any of this going to be an issue?

You may be more scrutinized with the age difference but it is not such a big deal in Ukraine with the man being older.

Providing continuous financial support can give the appearance of a sugar daddy but occasional monetary gifts for special days (birthday etc)

are fine.

She is not your fiance yet so I advise to go easy on the any monthly financial support for various reasons.

While the age difference / financial support are not reasons in and of itself, often they can sway a CO's discretionary powers to a

yes or a refusal with the general reason cited as 'for immigration benefits only'.

You won't see a reason given : too much age difference or financial gain but they all come into play measuring all your evidence and

how well you can convince them of a bona fide relationship. If you create doubt they will likely refuse.

Sure, try the tourist visa but realize that she has to stand on her own financially and an invitation letter from you paying for everything will not help

but hinder, it will make her strong ties disappear in the face of a boyfriend in the USA. Visiting a friend/sightseeing with her own ability to finance

the trip will be much better.

Good luck !

Are there any situations where we know a petition was rejected for this reason? My age difference is 61/30.

Age difference, of itself, is usually not a reason to deny a K-1 visa. It is a red flag for legitimacy of the relationship. Women younger than about mid 30s did not grow up in the Soviet system therefore they are more "Westernized" and thusly have different life experiences.

There was also one person concerned that providing financial support might raise a red flag.

Are there examples where we know a petition was rejected for this reason?

Again not a reason to deny the visa from the Embassy's perspective but another red flag; we've seen many scams where the US man regularly sends money and then nothing ever happens, usually the beneficiary never goes to the interview. Have you met this person yet? Did you meet her parents and family?

Because my girlfriend has a good job as a teacher, a minor child, strong family ties, and owns her home, I think she has a good case for a tourist visa while we we develop our relationship. I would bear all of the costs of her visa application and, if approved, travel.

Maybe

She is an English teacher and her English is very good. If we get engaged, I will sponsor her for additional lessons. I have a relationship with an English school there.

And I would also pay for her driver training in Ukraine.

Driver training wouldn't have much effect on the need for the same training in the US except experience behind the wheel.

The reviews of the Ukrainian embassy that I read are good.

It is an easy Embassy.

Is any of this going to be an issue?

I see some red flags. Be careful.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

---> Practice is a lot less expensive in Ukraine))))

Seems like the red flags are around the girl and not the visa process )))

I understand.
