I finally filed my K-1 packet on Dec 31. It didn't seem nearly as difficult as I thought it would be in the beginning. Hopefully that doesn't mean I made errors..hehe

Was wondering...How long will it take them to look through my information and go to the next step with it? assuming i didnt make any errors of course...and what exactly will that next step be?

They are moving pretty fast now with a wait time averaging around 30 to 45 days for case approval. Of course, remember "your mileage may vary".

Start collecting your documents for the interview. Follow the embassy letter but be aware that the CENMAR and NBI cannot be older than 6 months at time of interview.

I highly suggest you read Greenbaum's link. It is extremely informative and a step by step guide to the process. Helped me immensely. And practice being patient as it takes time, and sometimes more time.

Good luck!

Kevin

so according to my tracking information ..they received my packet this morning. How long till I hear anything from them?

Am I understanding correctly that Texas is like a screening area..I.E. checks for errors etc before forwarding it on to correct processing office?

Is it a good indication of filling things out correctly, if it gets forwarded? or do they forward everything regardless of mistakes?

If you cannot tell... I'm paranoid I messed things up somewhere along the way hehe

Congratz on filing the petition!

Now it's time to sit back and enjoy the waiting game. If you screwed up something, the USCIS will send you a request for evidence (RFE).

Hopefully, your petition will be approved in a couple of months and then you will be able to start thinking about paying the visa application fee, scheduling an embassy interview, and completing the medical.
