Case Status Question "Case was sent to Department of State

Hello

I applied for a I-130 for my wife from Sweden back in June 2015.

We then received a status update saying that USCIS has received back the application in early November 2015. The mail was re directed back because my address on file was my vacation home and the mail had been stopped. Stupid I didn't realize that. VERY STUPID!!

I immediately changed my address on file, and now we have a new status saying our case was sent to the Department of State for Processing. That was on November 25th 2015.

Does anyone know what this means?? I believe the mail that was redirected back was our approval letter, and we can now send in all the proof of relationship, police etc. but I am not 100% sure. What happens at the Department of State and how long will this delay my process.

Thanks for the help on this. Any information would be great.

This means the I-130 was approved and you now move onto NVC processing.

Hello

Yes, you definitely need to start preparing for NVC. E.g. you can start preparing your I-864 and requesting your IRS transcript and your wife can apply for her police cert and her Swedish "120 personbevis". Make sure she gets the 120.

You should joins us over at the Scandinavian thread. Link below. We always post in English, even on our Scandinavian Facebook page, so you can still join us even if you don't speak a Scandinavian language. :D There you can get help specific to the Scandinavian process and the US Embassy in Sweden.

Feb 1st 2016 - Sent more in-depth info on assets as requested. Received the next morning

April 5th 2016 - POE Newark. No questions asked.


April 14th 2016 - SSN received


May 10th 2016 - First day at my new job :dancing:


May 27th 2016 - Green Card received
