JesusHC.

I have a Blue cross/blue shield plan that sucks compared to that. Currently we are paying about 500.00 per month. Got a letter last month and the rate is at 700.00 per month. Not only that we have a 3,000 deductible per person. After that it goes to 50%. I think max out of pocket total is around 13,000 per year, but that does not include the premiums. So that is over 8,000 per year even if we never visit the hospital. If I wasn't married I would just go back to my previous plan. NONE.

It sounds like your employer doesn't offer a good health plan. $500 a month is not bad, my wife and I pay about $400 for our two single plans. Not sure why yours would jump up $200 in one year, that's a 40% increase and not normal. You have a family plan, which for two people is more costly than two singles. If your wife works, you might want to look into her getting separate coverage through her employer, it might be cheaper.

Having no insurance and rolling the dice on whether you get sick or hit by a bus is one of the problems mandatory health insurance is supposed to eliminate. Why should the people who pay into health insurance willingly end up paying for people who choose not to have any insurance? I hope the fines for not having insurance become higher.

My wife doesn't work. She is going to school. I have two seasonal jobs. Neither offers insurance. So I pay it all.

My wife had two minor infections this year. So I have paid over 13,000 just in 2015!
