NVC Limbo? Help/support/advice needed

Hi all! So, my wife (the petitioner) and I completed the AOS and IV forms back in August. We sent out the AOS and IV documents and they were received by the NVC on September 14th. On October 7th, we received a checklist because my wife's grandfather, who is our co-sponsor, did not send enough financial evidence. So, we sent in what was requested and that package got scanned on 16th October. The NVC email subsequently received on 20th October said: 30 days and we'll get back to you about either needing more docs or scheduling interview etc.

Thing is, folks, that the 30 day period ended on Sunday 15th November just past. I thought, well, wait for the next few business days. Anyway, it's day 34 now and still no word. Like many of you are aware, I'm sure, this Kafkaesque limbo is a very stressful time; there is a lot of anxiety issues at the moment for the both of us and we haven't seen each other in the flesh since August. Almost twelve weeks now!

My question is: will we hear back soon? Is this regular? I've recently sent the NVC (Not Very Consistent) an email requesting a status update. and every time my wife tries to ring she's told to call back later by the IVR system. Customer services are abysmal, it seems. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated!

Call like a million times in a row, everytime you hear the call back later message hang up and dial again. And in the evenings it's usually a quicker response, but you will get through. Stay on top of it. I called a week and half ago and was told we had issues and would get a checklist. I just got the checklist today. Fortunately, due to frequent calling I sent all the required info from the checklist in before i even got the list so now I am back to waiting for a case closed. Good luck to you.

You should expect a reply to that email in about 2-3 months! Trust me.

Best thing to do would be to call even though it will take numerous tries. What I do is wait to hear ringing when I call. If I hear ringing, it means I've gotten through and they'll put me on hold. If, after calling you hear the automated message, hang up right away.

It's easiest to do this through a smartphone.

It's also best to call as soon as they open at 7 am and around the time they close at 12 am.

If you do get through, the NVC rep will just tell you what they see on a screen. Definitely ask for a supervisor if you get a chance. They're the ones who can actually look at your file and review anything thats left.

My only advice is call them, and learn patience!

This is not a quick process and being apart for 12 weeks really is nothing

From filing to POE took me 14 months

As you can see I am from the UK too, just be patient, it WILL happen

Thanks for the advice. Checked CEAC today and saw that our AOS fee status had changed from PAID to N/A. Could this indicate that our case is now complete? If so, doesn't it take like a week to get the email about it?

Yes! That is a good sign but, its best to call and confirm. I've seen some people here who've gotten the N/A but, their case wasn't actually complete.

Just N/A under AOS Fee. Heard it meant case is closed. Thanks so much for the advice, tho, guys!! I'll ask my wife to try her best to get through to them over the next few days.

Yep. Got the three N/As. DS261 was submitted back in August

Then yes you are complete, it took 6 weeks before we heard about our date of interview, you are nearly there!!

If you have case complete, you'll get the confirmation email in about a week. Call them today to get confirmation over the phone. We usually call first thing when they open and just hang up and redial till you get through.
